When Sonic Boom was initially getting released on DVD, I was disappointed that it wasn't getting released on Blu-ray. I just assumed that it probably wouldn't get one given how the series kinda flopped and how the distributor, NCircle Entertainment, doesn't seem to really do much in terms of Blu-ray. Either way, I was grateful the show was getting a home media release at all and ended up purchasing the 2 DVD volumes for Season 1 as they released. A year after the Volume 2 DVD, we get a complete Season 1 Blu-ray collection. Did I have to purchase the same episodes I already owned? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely. The episodes are stored across 3 discs, all in HD as they were created to be seen in. Sonic Boom isn't superbly animated by any means, but obviously the vibrancy of everything stands out so much more than it does in the DVD. Unlike the DVD collection, the episode order actually seems to be the airing order this time around. Episode order never mattered, but it certainly feels right this time around. If there is a phrase that I would use to describe this collection, it's definitely "It feels right." There are technically "Bonus Features" this time, as they added a small collection of concept art for the series. There's not much you can really do in terms of extra features for Sonic Boom, but the fact they went out of their way to add concept art makes the set feel much more whole. If there's one "issue" I have with the collection, it's the way the discs are stored. There are 2 disc holders, the second of which holds discs 2 and 3 stacked directly ontop of each other. Personally, I would have preferred another method, to hold the 3rd disc, but it's not a complain massive enough to knock down the score at all for me. I collect a lot of anime, and the production value on the disc case kinda blows a lot of Funimation's home media releases away. Seriously... those things struggle to hold discs some times. I hope you enjoyed my overly analytical review of Sonic Boom Season 1 on Blu-ray. It's Sonic Boom Season 1. On Blu-ray. Perfection. Great show, great collection. Hopefully a Season 2 set isn't far behind.

This is one of the if not the best Sonic th show. I'm glad that they did a Blu-ray release instead of just a DVD release. Also they fixed the problem with the DVD release were the episode "Fire in a Crowded Workshop" was the Spanish dub instead of the English version. My only gripe with the set is the solution they they used to place the discs. They place one on top of they other instead of each disc having its own place. So I went to a thirft store to find a Blu-ray movie that used a 3 separate disc solution and swapped the cases. I did the same thing for Volume 2 other than that this is a great set would recommend!
