Yes, the edges are clean. I just use this for decorative trim and ir works well for that. It is not very thick so not sure if it will work for a cracked taillight but I think it will work fine. If it is sealed down tight, it should be resistant to rain and snow.

Can I apply this tape in cold 50 degree weather?

Can it be used on the bottom of a boat?

Doubt it. I used it on the platinum trim to block the sun from shining in my eyes in my vehicle and the heat makes it let go. I would imagine water would do the same
