This book is primarily aimed at developers who have some prior experience with MVC 5 and are proficient in C#, since the language wonโt be explained in any detail. Even if you already have created a couple of MVC projects, you might find the content in this book useful as a refresher. You might have worked in previous versions of Visual Studio and MVC and want a fast no-fluff way to get up to speed with MVC 5. Prerequisites: โข C# (you need to be proficient) โข MVC 5 (you need some prior experience) โข HTML5/CSS3 (you need basic knowledge) โข JavaScript/JQuery (you need basic knowledge) In this book you will learn how to build an MVC 5 website using C#, Entity Framework, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax. โข Create a "real world" code-first database using Entity Framework. โข Add and modify models, views and controllers to perform CRUD operations against the database. โข Use client-side and server-side validation. โข Secure the controllers, actions and view content with authorization and roles. โข Implement security with ASP.NET Identity (authentication, authorization and roles). โข Use JavaScript, JQuery and Ajax to build a great end-user interface with asynchronous server calls. โข Style the user interfaces using CSS3 and Bootstrap. โข Create a responsive website. โข Implement product subscription scenarios with registration codes. โข Create an alternate way to login to the application. โข Implement password reset functionality. โข Register users with the site. โข Manage users and their subscriptions. Technologies, frameworks and languages: โข C# (you need to be proficient) โข HTML5/CSS3 (you need basic knowledge) โข JavaScript/JQuery (you need basic knowledge) โข MVC 5 (you will create/modify models, views and controllers) โข Razor syntax (to include server-side code in views) โข Bootstrap (used for styling and to create a responsive design) โข Ajax (used for asynchronous server calls) โข LINQ (to query the database) โข Extension methods (to clean up your C# code and enable re-use) โข HTML Helper methods (to clean up your HTML and enable re-use) โข Use settings from the web.config file * This book does not cover ASP.NET Core 1.0 I hope you love the book! So far I'm up to page 71, and all the code is working, I'm learning, now this is the way it's supposed to be. I'll write more after I've been through several more chapters but it's looking good so far. Review: Great book, NOT for newbies ... - This is a great book for current software, more specifically, web developers. As the book suggests, this book is NOT for people that have no web development experience; especially .NET experience, it is really for developers that have experience with Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET, C#, WinForms and WebForms. I recommend this boo for developers that have a minimum of 2-3 years experience in C# and other Microsoft technologies that want to get into MVC; it truly is a different paradigm.

This is the First
I purchased this book and also took Jonas's course on Udemy. I learned a lot and was actually able to finish the project contained in the book covering MVC as well as just about any item I would need to use in my websites. I would recommend this book to especially someone new to learning web programming. This is the first book or class that has actually been good enough to guide me through the whole process. My Thanks to Jonas

It is a great idea and I was looking forward to using this book to learn MVC at an implementation level. I prefer learning by looking at examples and doing. The book is self published and a run at spell checking would have been great. There are typos on just about every page and some of them in the code listings. The downloaded code is purported to be the final code but clearly is not. There are subtle changes and some bugs. As I said, great idea. Just not implemented as well as I expected.

ASP.Net MVC 5 Essentials Plus
Anyone interested in mastering MVC and programming constructs with .Net and C# should read this book. It's well written and the sample project is an excellent start for a real world web application

Do not buy this book unless you already knew ASP.NET MVC, and would like to know how the author doing it in his way. I could only went up to Page 63 and I stuck.I couldn't go further because I didn't know what I was doing, I was not able to debug it. Just following the book step by step, to type what the author asked me to. It is not a book teaching that you on ASP.NET MVC, but an instruction manual for you to follow and build a web application. At Page 63, I learnt nothing, but sharpen my typing skill. I hate it very much.

Re-Think About Wanting This Book
The author should never quit his real job. He is not a good business person. I tried to buy several of his Csharp books. The kindle version and the paperback version are the same prices effectively stealing from his customers making them pay for a physical book and then not delivering the book. Furthermore, I tried to buy several books on a holiday like Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Again he is too greedy. The price of books is the same. The one book that I bought has several errors. So I decided not to buy any of his books. I tried to contact him through his website. He really doesn't care about his customers. he only wants their money.
