Is it lightweight enough to mount it on a wall without having to worry about it falling and shattering?

Mine has been on the wall between two doors (that are sometimes slammed) for a year or so. It has stayed in place, no jiggling or movement . When I open the front glass door of the case to get something out I use my other hand to hold the case tight against the wall just in case I might jiggle it loose and have broken glass and beaded necklaces all over the place,, but there’s never been a problem . I was considering erin’s a few small sections of Velcro or command strips at the bottom of the back panel for a little extra security.

Does this have a foam backing?

The backing under the black velvet is sturdy enough stick in pins and hold up medals, jerseys, and other heavy memorabilia.
