Now I do hate to out myself as a full-blown aquatic nerd, but let’s be honest—this splendid little contraption is simply divine for open water temperature reconnaissance. Yes, yes, it’s marketed for pools and hot tubs, but I’ve given it a far nobler task: I tether it quite regally to my swim buoy, and off I go into the wild chilly yonder, feeling ever so adventurous, like a posh penguin with a plan.When the icy fingers of doubt creep in and I begin to question whether I’m merely being dramatic or actually freezing my noble bits off, this trusty thermometer confirms that yes, I am not being a delicate daisy—it is cold, and I am correct, thank you very much.With a clear display, Celsius and Fahrenheit (because why not have options?), and a floaty design that’s more reliable than most of my exes, it’s now a permanent member of my swim ensemble. Frankly, I wouldn’t dip a toe without it.Five stars, and a polite curtsy.

Worked great in my soft tub

I got one full season out of this, and I live in the south so pool season is long. For whatever reason, the temperature window is now solid white so it's done for. Considering the cost, I'd say it was a good buy.Edit - my husband just said he forgot to put it away when we closed up so it sat outside all winter. I'm guessing it would still work if it hadn't frozen. Lordy lol. Good thermometer.

I use it to measure the ambient temperature of the water in the lake I fish. It'll only measure the surface temp but that's good enough for my needs.

Looks unobtrusive in pool. Love seeing the water temp. Good value and is durable, have had it 6 months, the last one which was different broke in a few weeks.

No where is the size stated. It is 7 inches in total length, but the window is 3 1/2 inches. Almost impossible to read, especially if you are in the pool. NOT returnable so be careful. A rip off! Look elsewhere! update: The thermometer reads 87 degrees. the water measured with an accurate one is actually 76...Junk!

Disposable in about a year’s time. Water and algae got inside and thermometer was no longer accurate . Its ok for the money soent.

I have one of these tethered to a safety rope ring that was already installed in my pool. This ring is for putting in a line of floats to demarcate the shallow from the deep end. Anyways, for an analog thermometer it is exactly what you would hope for and is quite stable as it floats always in the vertical position.
