Works Better Than Any!!!
I absolutely love this crockpot. I've owned many different types of crockpots from the hand-me-down round crockpot my mom gave me when I moved out 34 years ago to the standard round stainless steel one I got for my wedding 23 years ago. My favorite features are the thermometer and the seal on this. The seal means NO MORE sloshing around when I take it to potluck! The thermometer reassures me roast and whole chickens cook all the way through.Would recommend and buy again!

Works with proper heat, not overcooking!
Love, love it! I have recently bought 2 crockpots and they cooked fast and basically boiled on low. This one works as it should! Get it!

l bought one for my Son before. This is my 2nd purchase for me this time.
This is the best slow cooker and bonus, you can use a thermometer to check if your meat, chicken, turkey or pork is cooked or not. Nothing like it that l,ve ever seen or used. l love my purchase. Awesome and inexpensive for what you get. Also it is soooooo easy to use. Oh and you get the free thermometer that plugs into the base of cooker. There,s a small hole in the glass top you stick it through and into the meats, etc. And the lid has locks while cooking safe.

Easy to Use
I bought this for my daughter so is a teacher and is single. She said she loves it! She throw in a bunch of ingredients and has a great dinner when she comes home after school! She is also a coach so she has very long days and is super tired. The last thing she has energy for is cooking. Even though she is single, she says the size is fine because the dinners last her for days! It's easy to set the timer too. She said it's very easy to use. I even used it when I went to her house and found it simple to navigate!

Works great, but a little nervous about the "Made in China" stamp
Though there are only three of us, my husband and stepson are big eaters, so I chose this larger size to accommodate their appetites. Leftovers are a good thing. The inner crock is heavy, but it's the nature of the beast, as is the fact that the exterior gets hot when you are cooking. It is clumsy to wash in the sink, but the addition of cooking bags made for this size and type of cooker simplifies the cleaning enough to make it worth it. It is big, so consider where you will store it before buying. I can't stand appliances I'm not using sitting on my countertops, so that was an issue for me. The timing and temperature seem to be accurate and it's easy to program. It is fast. I have used several recipes that give 6-8 hour cooking times and have cut the time in half with great success. Tough cuts of meat still came out falling apart tender. I should pass on the hint that I picked up about high temps and avoiding burned food: If you put a raft of onion or celery in the bottom bag and rest the meat on it, it will give extra flavor as well as protecting meat from burning or sticking to the bag. The design of the lid could be better. The handle is secured by a bridge that is about 1/4" above the glass lid. It is much too small a gap to effectively clean under. Though this is on the outside and doesn't really get dirty, I still like to be able to clean anything associated with food as thoroughly as possible.I didn't find anything in the reviews I read prior to my purchase about the fact that this product is made in China. Had I known the origin, I probably would not have bought it. But, so far the results have been very good. I feel using the cooking bags help with my peace of mind, as well as with cleanup. The wire clamps to secure the crock for travel seem like they would work fine, but I don't travel with food, so I have only found them a bit annoying because they don't fold completely away from the side of the crock and you cannot use them while cooking. Another model is probably the same, but without the clamps. I was just overwhelmed with all the reading I did and picked this one without considering that I might not want the clamps. Other than the required storage space and the origin, I'm very happy with this product.

I love this crockpot
A few months ago, we decided to save money by cooking our own food. (We had been eating Trader Joe’s frozen meals and going out and that gets expensive very quickly.) Thing is, neither my husband nor I love cooking all that much. So I guess it comes as no surprise that I am terrible at it. However, I did come across an awesome blog called a year of slow cooking that presented me with a bunch of easy-to-make recipes in very little time. (Since then I have found other blogs with other recipes: Get Crocked and 365 days of slow cooking for example but a year of slow cooking is still my favorite.) The recipe problem solved, I started cooking using my small, old, and very basic crockpot. And that crockpot was doable but some recipes call for cooking on low for 9 hours; others for 6 and really all I want is to throw the ingredients into the crockpot and forget about it.My old basic crockpot didn’t let me do that. The Hamilton Beach, on the other hand does. And it is so easy to use! I hate electronics (ask my husband) but I can operate this crockpot with ease. You just press the on button (the red circle on the left) then select the time by pushing the up/down arrows on the right, press enter, select the heat setting press enter and you’re done. Once it’s finished, it goes to Warm setting so your food doesn’t spoil. This means that if you set it on a Friday night and want to sleep in Saturday morning, you can. You really don’t have to worry about getting up just to turn off the crockpot. If you are cooking a full chicken or something as big as that you can use the thermometer probe and set your own temperature you want maintained to make sure that meat is cooked properly. It also has one of those lids that locks down with simple lever clamps at each end so now I can be one of “those” people who takes up the office kitchen because we are having a potluck. The lid does have a rubber seal but do be sure to keep it upright because there are small vent holes and a hole for the probe to be inserted through the glass lid.All in all, this really is a set it and forget it crockpot (as advertised). It is also worth noting (because this has been in the news) that Healing Gourmet (a food safety site) lists Hamilton as one of the ten brands to look for when choosing a crockpot and that wirecutter (a site that reviews the gadgets in our lives) tells us that this crockpot “outperformed much more expensive models.” In a couple of negative reviews I have seen, there were complaints about the glass breaking. The instructions say to only clamp down the lid when transporting food. My husband says that there is a good chance that tightening the lid while cooking would put extra stress on the glass making it more likely to break/shatter. So bear this in mind.I admit I haven’t tried those more expensive models (the whole point of using a crockpot to begin with was to save money) but I have to admit I am a little in love with this crockpot and highly recommend it.

This slow cooker is great! My first dish was chicken cacciatore
This slow cooker is great! My first dish was chicken cacciatore. It was delicious. I used the probe method, set to cook to 180* and then warm. I had never used a slow cooker before, and this was a very pleasant introduction. The unit seems well-built. It's a little like an oblong corn popper that used to be popular in dorms, with a heavy insert. My research showed that early slow cookers got hot enough to scorch the countertop beneath it, leading to damage or a fire. This unit runs cool enough on the bottom that it can be touched. The sides get hot, as one would expect.I also got the liners, and would recommend them. They are shaped so that if anything spills over, it doesn't foul the unit. When the unit reaches the end of its cooking cycle, either because of the time you've set, or the internal temperature of the food has been reached, it drops back to a warming cycle. So if you're delayed in rush hour, the dish is not ruined.Edit-- I've now had this for about a week. There is an aroma when it's new, but it doesn't affect the food and disappears after several cooking session.I use the liners, and recommend them. I have some plastic containers that hold several quarts. After I serve from the slow cooker, I pull the leftovers out, bag and all, and drop them in the containers. I fold the plastic over and the containers go in the fridge. Reheating the leftovers is the reverse. No cleaning at all -- it's a great system.Edit 2-- I made a turkey breast, and it was great. I diced celery, onions and carrots, and put that mixture in the bottom of the lined crock. I added a package of cranberries and walnuts. (In retrospect, I should have added these later. The cranberries rehydrated too much and lost their character.) The turkey breast went in next, and I poured in a quart of chicken stock. A little dark spice, such as paprika or Emeril's Essence adds a brown color to the skin, which otherwise would be a little pale after cooking. I used the probe to achieve an internal temperature of 170*. It took about 5 hours on high. I used the broth a vegetable mixture to make dressing in a skillet. I used some of the strained turkey broth to dilute a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup, and that was the gravy. So, I made a mock Thanksgiving dinner with 15 minutes of preparation, and 15 minute of "cooking right before serving, and it was excellent.

The BEST Slow Cooker To Buy
I absolutely LOVE this Set & Forget Slow Cooker because it basically let's you set it and forget it. I had to replace my other 6 QT slow cooker which coincidentally looked almost identical to this one right down to the probe. The only difference is that they improved it and made one with those latches to secure the lid shut. Also I feel like the handles on my other slow cooker stuck out quite a bit. Oddly enough this unit feels lighter.I personally think the best features to have on a slow cooker are the options to cook in 30 minute intervals so the timing starts at 4:00hrs and you simply use the up and down button to add 30 minutes or subtract 30 minutes so if you only want something to only cook for 30 minutes like if you're melting chocolate or making candy etc, you're good. I would stay away from the slow cookers that only give you two options. So you would have High 4-6 hours or Low 6-8 hours because you're tied to those two options. If you don't want to babysit it then this is the better option. It cooks very evenly. As I mentioned, it comes with a probe and the lid latches down securely for traveling. I personally would not cook with it latched down. There is no need to. Maybe if you're on a boat and riding really big waves and you're afraid of the lid coming off then I would see someone latching it down while it's cooking but even then, theoretically you don't need to do that if the cooker is stationary. I don't think it's recommended either.I had my previous 6Qt slow cooker for 8 years and ran it ragged and the only reason I had to let it go was because the digital display was no longer readable so in the very end, it made it a guessing game. It still cooked great right up to the end so it was working and I could still make out the display timing because I knew it started off at 4:00hrs and the high/low etc so I was okay with that and was able to maneuver around that problem which I dealt with for the last year and a half and then that one day it was to the point that I thought I put in a certain time and luckily I was home and I heard it beep and saying it was done but it should have still had 3 hours for the cooking time. That is when I knew the slow cooker was absolutely done.I am a creature of a habit, I wanted the EXACT same unit but they don't make that model anymore and I knew this particular model with the latched lid was out and pretty much identical to my older one so I scooped it up. Again, I love the features and the fact that this one is somehow lighter. I like the company. I like their products. This one is a winner!
