Allen & Heath QU-16C Rack Mountable Compact Digital Mixer, Chrome Edition

Always wanted an Allen & Heath. It became affordable and went for it. Don’t regret the $$. Watched some videos online since it’s my first digital mixer. Learned a lot. The sound is amazing. The PEQ is phenomenal and being able to tune the system using my iPad is something else. Still getting used to the internal effx and the mixes but I’ve been learning as I go. It’s still easy to set up from the beginning though. I can’t imagine what the SQ models can do but for me the Qu models is enough and more.

There's no need for me to go into great detail about the features of these A&H QU series mixers as they're well known and there's many in depth reviews on the internet, but I will say that these mixers are amazing to setup and run. I install and run sound systems for churches and non-profit events and have been using these A&H QU series boards whenever possible. They're very easy to setup, learn and operate which is especially important when teaching either a newbie or a volunteer who's used to analog mixers. Compared to competitor's digital boards, I feel the QU series are very intuitive and offer a good mix of on-board effects and sound shaping tools like EQ and compression. The iPad app also allows you to have complete control over the mixer via wifi, so getting stage monitors and remote aux's setup can be a one-man operation if need be since you don't have to be physically on the mixer to make adjustments.

This mixer works great, a bit of a learning curve from an analog mixer, but picked up on how most of the features work. I really like how I can control the system from my ipad, especially when I need to run a mic up to the stage and make sure it is unmuted and levels are correct without running back to the tech table. Has a great feature if music is playing, it will dim if someone speaks into a mic.

Good mixer

Digital sound boards are a whole new world. They can be complex to operate but as you learn the functions of this board, you find it hard to believe you used anything less. We record most shows now. We have independent monitors and we each run our own monitor sound. I'm the singer and can run the board from a tablet sitting on a music stand. If we have a separate sound tech, he/she could run the sound from the front with running wires to them. I've learned a lot about the board and look forward to learning the 95% I don't know. One quick note... get the "Patriot Tab Series 32GB Micro-Sized USB 3.0 Flash Drive" since the QU16 doesn't take all USB drives but it works well with this low-profile drive.
