yes. They are very sturdy. I am not sure how much sun they could take. I would not leave them out all day in the sun

They have a little bit of a bumpy texture if you were to put a piece of paper on it to write but for holding plates, cups and things like that they are smooth. I love them!

This placemats are perfect size. I love the color brown that I chose. They are very durable and easy to clean. I gave it four stars because there's a crease in it and I bought them sometime ago and have tried everything even after washing them numerous times and it still won't come out but other than that they' look great and I'm happy with my purchase.
