BOSS Audio Systems BVCP9700A CarPlay Android Car Stereo, 7 Inch Touchscreen

I desperately needed some way to listen to music in my recently bought 2010 Genesis. It had no Bluetooth music and the aux did not work so I was stuck listening to the radio like old times. So I bought this one (I bought an off brand/Chinese one before this one but it did not fit and had to return it). Instantly changed my riding experience. PROS - Wireless or wired Apple CarPlay (I love it so much). - All the features that come with Apple CarPlay. Music, navigation, etc. (I mostly just use it for Spotify). - You now have a good quality double din stereo in your car that’s not stupidly expensive. That’s awesome by itself. - Just looks good and boosts your driving experience. CONS - Has a little bit of half second delay when clicking anything. - No knob to change volume. I seriously did not know that I would hate the + and - buttons for volume adjustment. It’s fine though, I just wished it had a knob. - Not too big of a deal but I’ve had a couple of instances where it just restarts out of no where. Comes back to life in like 7 seconds like nothing happened. - The mic it comes with is kinda trash. You’ll just have to yell at whoever you’re on the call with if your using hands free calling. But that’s all the bad stuff. If you ask me, the pros heavily outweigh the cons. I changed the stereo myself and I recommend to do heavy research before purchasing any stereo. For me, I had to buy like 3 separate things, 2 harnesses and a bezel, to install any stereo. YOU WILL NEED TO CUT WIRES AND CONFECT THEM. It’s not that hard though because the wires the stereo has are color coded and named to make connecting wires easy. 8/10 stereo

Purchased a newer used Kia Optima and the Radio worked, but the screen for bluetooth, GPS and phone was damaged. Looked at several places and found this one here at a great price! It fits well, with the addition of the frames and wire kit purchased here, as well. It is so nice, clear sound, and fun to use, since my prior car did not have these features. It was a little bit of a challenge to install, but looks like it came with the car! My brother, that installed it, likes is so well, he is looking to purchase for his Kia. We recommend this!!

Overall, a nice radio. My only complaint is the size of the volume and mic buttons. They are very small!

Easy to install, responsiveness is usually spot on. It does occasionally glitch and will also occasionally randomly flip to the radio. Brightness is adjustable and will dim at night. Fits great sound quality is great. Overall I say it is worth it! Connectivity is decent but does have issues on occasion but there again for how adorable it is I don’t have any legit complains

Worked good for a couple months now it restarts while driving and no buttons work and the screen goes black.

Boss never fails me. Everyone I have owned has outperformed the life of the vehicle. And that’s always a long time. My vehicles are maintained. I tried to be cheap this time and bought Chinese junk I sent three back and after the last one I bought a boss easy installation great performance

So I have used the Boss BVCO9700A stereo in my car for the last two years now. That's a good enough period to give an honest review of the unit. I really enjoy using this stereo, it was a huge upgrade to my Honda. It is a really great unit deserving 5 stars, but I would give it a 3.5 (if possible), so rounded it up to 3 stars, as it is quite not at 4; were it not for one or two major quirks that I will mention in the Cons below Pros - Great unit with good reception on the radio. The sound quality is great. Makes listening to music fun. The EQ is great to tune to your liking, though, I wish they would allow one to have multiple presets e.g. for music vis-a-vis monologues (e.g. listening to the news or reading an audiobook). - Android Auto and Carplay work really well. I prefer Android Auto on this device compared to Carplay; especially the maps. Carplay maps require you to use arrows to move around the map, Android auto allows you to drag your finger on the screen to move. Android Auto is more customisable than Carplay, especially because I drive in a vehicle with the wheel on the right side. - The screen is great and very responsive. I never have to touch it twice or find it laggy. It is visible both during the day (sunny days) and at night. - The dedicated mic button is a plus, especially to ask for directions or request for media on spotify, audible, etc. The Cons - Calls: The unit has an inbuilt call function (using bluetooth) and the one found in AA/Carplay. For some reason, the calling function has a bug. If using AA/Carplay, when a call comes through, you will talk very well. However, when the call ends, AA/Carplay shows the call has ended, but on the calling function on the unit, the call still shows it is up. As such, if you just end the call on AA/Carplay, then another call comes in through, there's no sound on the radio, the call's audio is redirected to the phone. When driving, this is such a bummer, to pick a call just to hear a very faint voice from your phone. I learnt a hack to always disconnect the cable from the phone (to disconnect AA/Carplay) after every call, to reset this. It is really annoying! I am not sure whether this is just my unit, but just for this reason, I am considering changing the unit. - The second most annoying thing is the default volumes. It has a nice feature (if it worked) where one sets default volumes for the radio, Bluetooth streaming, calls, navigation, etc. Every so often, when you switch on the car, all defaults are back to zero. So, if you have set a navigation route, you just notice while on the highway that there's no audible voice.. and you have to fiddle with settings all over to get the volumes back. Or a call comes through and you cannot hear the person on your phone or stereo, till you add the volume and you finally hear the person on the other side. - The mic that comes with the unit is decent, though many people complain that I sound very far, yet I am screaming in the car. - There are few instances it shows a white "Boss" logo on startup; happens like once a month. I have to restart the car again for the unit to boot properly. Looks like a software issue. Twice the entire unit went black, I thought it was dead. The first time, it came back after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Then I learnt that pressing the small factory reset button at the top left solves this issue Other than calls and the resets, when the unit works as required, I'd give it 10/10. Its durable and works very well, even for long drives.

I was really wasn’t sure about this for the price didn’t know what the quality would be like, but wow I was super impressed. I put this in my kids car and couldn’t believe I’d had wireless CarPlay. Most units you have to pay a small fortune to get the wireless. I am very happy with the unit, easy to install, straight forwards display, back up camera input works great. I would buy again.

Its ok but anoying installing as no oem or after market harness readily available and the usb inputs and apple car play are cables from the rear which make your car look ugly, this is not the stereo for you if you don’t want cables hanging out of your dash. Would not buy again.
