Can i use it to charge a samsung galaxy watch active?

No. As watch active charges on this charger it overheats and the watch shuts down the charging and says to use the correct charger. If I remove watch from charger and let it cool down then return to charger it charges a little farther then shuts down again. Contacted seller and they said this charger is NOT for the watch active.

Does the watch display the message "Use Original Charger" with this charger?

Not for me. Works exactly like the one that came with watch.

Does this unit overheat

If you plug it into a USB outlet on a PC for example, it does not seem to get too warm. I have used it with a low output power block (1 MAmp) and found that it can get very warm. The seller recommends using a USB outlet for it.
