So easy to install!! Worked perfectly out of the box on my V twin mini excavator. I like that it only counts hours with engine running as opposed to key on.

Great product! I installed this on my Suzuki DF 2.5 single cylinder, 4 cycle outboard motor so I could monitor the rpms and hours for the engine break-in protocol and later to track hours for routine maintenance intervals. I had done a lot of research and found that there are some other products out there that are difficult to install and/or inaccurate, but this Hardline product was a very simple and secure installation and is accurate. There was no adjustment required at all- I installed it and it worked. Now I can run my engine by rpm rather than guessing by half-throttle, quarter-throttle etc. and don't have to guess how many hours are on the engine for maintenance. And, the price is right. Highly recommend. In addition, Hardline advised when I asked that you can use regular 18 gauge wire of 10, 15 ft if you need to place the device further away from the engine you are monitoring. I plan to do this with my small outboard so I can monitor it more comfortably as I go through the engine break in procedure with progressive rpms on my new 2.5 hp outboard.

So far, so good. I added this to a 37 ton wood splitter that has a crx 420 4 stroke motor on it. I mounted it on the plastic near the air filter, being careful not to drill into the air intake line. The RPMs were double what they should have been at idle but holding the button while in rpm mode fixed that to get to correct mode. I ran the engine for a bit to see the hour meter read 0.1. Seems good. Time will tell to see longevity. The first package I ordered only had the display unit. I returned that and got a package with display unit, sensor wire and zip tie. I cut down the sensor wire to suit my needs as the run was not very long.

This unit is easy to install and appears to work well. I tested it together using another RPM measuring device and it appears to be accurate. The two-sided tape that is provided is very, very, very strong, so plan out where you want to put the device well before you actually stick it onto your portable generator. This is because it may be very difficult to remove once you stick down the two sided tape. If I had to affix/position this again, in hindsight, I would opt to have the screen on top of the generator with the display screen facing up towards the sky. It's very awkward to crouch down to see the display on the device if you mount it on the side of the generator. So, in hindsight I would have picked a spot on top of the generator so that the screen faces directly up so that you don't have to bend down to read the screen.

This little device is extremely accurate and works great for my pair of Yamaha 2000 Watt inverter generators. The pick up wire slips nicely under the rubber jacket in the housing so I didn't have to drill any holes. The title was misleading "Easy installation, no power or ground required, just peel and stick". The easy installation part was true, but the "just peel and stick" is false. The pick-up wire needs to be wrapped around the spark plug wire and attached. In some engines this may be very simple (if your spark plug is exposed and easy to get to), but for these generators the covers had to be removed, the outer housing removed, and getting that wire wrapped around a spark plug that is set inside the unit took 15 minutes to get right the first time, and about 10 the second. All in all, I'm still a happy camper. It works great, and appears very accurate. These units are running in parallel so I can watch the RPM's synchronize between the two as power draw goes up and down. 4 stars. I'd give it 5 stars if the description didn't make a 20 minute job sound like a 10 second job.

Bought one for a mud motor on a boat, worked great for 2 years uncovered out in the elements, then the button became a little difficult to function, took the rubber button out and was still able to press the board button with a tiny flat head screw driver. Documented 200 hours and 2 years in the elements is pretty good for the price, especially compared to some of the others on amz. Never had an issue with water getting behind the screen or the battery dying. Bought a new engine and replaced the old meter with a new hardline tac/hour meter. Going to keep this engine covered when not in use so this meter should last me a long, long time. Also gave the old meter to a friend who is also running a mud motor on his boat and he is still able to enjoy using it to keep track of his hours and rpm’s. Best tac/hour meter available on Amazon hands down.

Great replacement part for tach/hour meter on 2023 Bad Boy Maverick HD (Honda engine). Simply crimp a male Quick-Disconnect onto the new meter's wire and you're ready to go. Pic is of female end from the engine. Did drill two 7/64" holes in panel to mount the new meter but that's everything. Very easy and seems to work great! One add: be sure to check your engine’s pulses per rev and set the new meter accordingly.

I recently installed a new engine in a piece of railroad equipment. Previously tracking maintenance intervals was sporadic. This little unit is simple to install, it has a 10 year internal battery, so no difficult wiring interface with the ignition system and vehicle power. The trigger signal comes from a pickup wire wrapped around an ignition wire. The Onan engine in my railcar is “lost spark” technology like a Harley. This unit can be adjusted for many different ignition schemes. Very easy to install, just wrap the trigger wire around a spark plug wire.

Have had two of these for several years now and the important thing is that they are reliable, Don't buy the cheap chinese copies as they are flat out lasting a few months.

Product is shipped in reasonable time. Works as advertised. Convenient and cheaper than importing it yourself.

Nicely packaged and works great. Seems to be well built for the size. The only down point was that there should have been some double sided tape in the packaging but it was missing. No real issue as I had some at home. As a product and quality, for me it's a five star.

Installed this on my new outboard motor it’s simple and of high quality and pretty accurate a must have item to break in the motor shows rpm and total hours
