Fascinations Home Decor Volcano Lamp

I WOULD GIVE THIS A ZERO STAR, BUT NO OPTION FOR THAT. This is a piece of junk. Its a big disappointment. The photos don't accurately depict it's function. The "lava" is actually tiny plastic balls. This thing is also tiny. Its cheaply made and super cheesy. The volcano is also a lighter shade of cheep plastic and you can see all the under parts from the side, so there is no authenticity at all. I thought it would be similar to a "lava lamp" because it came up in the search results of "lava lamp". It is a plastic bubble lamp, which you actually have to add water and some dish detergent to. When we turned it on, it simply made a loud clanging noise, similar to a plastic spoon in a garbage disposal. I followed the directions perfectly. (smart lady here) and it did not work. I carefully read the directions before starting.

It is smaller than I expected, however, my children love it. It looks very easy to spill, though it hasn't happened yet. I used distilled water, based on other reviewers' suggestion, and the water looks clear. You do have to put some dish soap in it to help break the tension of the water and we only had green dish soap on hand - I was worried it would mess with the color, but it didn't. I hope the battery lasts a good while!

I bought this for my 8 year old, she loves it. I on the other hand... Do not. You have to fill it with distilled water, soap and the lava balls. It didn't work at first it just made weird noises and the balls just floated on the top. We let it sit for a day or 2 then it worked. The "lava" doesn't go all that high like in the picture, some of them still floats on the top. It has a plug connection but doesn't come with one, if you plan on buying this i strongly suggest getting the adapter cause you'll burn through batteries with a quickness. This is good for a first lava lamp, its not a lifetime commitment cause i really don't see it lasting long.

It is very ridiculous that Amazon offers this product to consumers. It is total junk! It did not work and looked like it came from a dollar store. Looks nothing like a Volcano, just a cheap cone shaped piece of plastic with tiny red beads that were supposed to shoot out of it. I unfortunately let my son (age 9) order this without reading the reviews. It pays to read reviews! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. Not worth returning either since it comes from another country. Very Very disappointed in Amazon with this one. Amazon should really be ashamed of themselves for offering this product on their sight, especially since all of the reviews say the same thing!!

As advertised beautiful color

It seems to work ok I left it on for around 8 hours but it's not very neat it really doesn't look as cool as the one in the picture, you do have to put water and dish soap and the little balls inside it plugs in but looks really cheap and it's really small it is Definitely not worth the money after three days of use it stopped working completely junk

I bought this for my 12 year old nephew for Christmas. It was on his wish list, so I bought it thinking it was something he really wanted and liked. When it arrived, it surprised me because I was expecting something bigger for what I paid for it (around $17 plus $8 shipping.) This lamp is only about 8.5 inches tall and you have to add your own water to it. It is plastic and not well made. If your child were to accidently knock this off the table, it would break and there would be a mess everywhere. Spend your money on something else. I just hope my nephew likes this!!

I decided to try this little volcano, in spite of the bad reviews, because of Amazon's excellent returns policy. When I first set it up yesterday, I was disappointed because after a very short time the beads stopped coming out of the top of the volcano. I wanted to give it every chance, so I added more dishwashing liquid and it immediately started working much better. It may be that how much dishwashing liquid you need depends on what kind you use. Once I plugged it in with a 4.5 volt adapter I had on hand, it got brighter and really started shooting out the beads. It remains to be seen how it will perform over the long run, but right now it's great. I do note, however, that the product information on the site appears to be outdated. The picture is inaccurate - the volcano is just a plain plastic cone, with no "volcanic" detailing - and it can be run on either a USB connection (cable provided) or a 4.5 volt adapter (not included). Amazon would be wise to recommend an adapter to persons thinking of buying the lamp.
