Is one purchase enough for a full game with max players?

Yes. I play mostly seven player games and have never run out of resources...mainly because you don’t usually keep them for long.

How tall are these game pieces in millimeters?

Roughly the longest lengths on the ore, barrels, and the logs are about 15mm. I'd include a photo but can't seem to attach one.

Why are the shipping dimensions almost as large as the game itself?

The product dimensions are not used for shipping. There are "package dimensions" that are. What I see is 8 x 6 x 1 inch - which is pretty close. The resources pouch is pretty small. It could in a small bubblewrap envelope or box. It is nowhere near the same size as the game. Dave
