TOR-SE77 Advanced Square Edge Jig

It arrives, is reassuringly heavy out of the box. The casting is good and the adjusters run smooth. The instructions are excellent with good advice about sharpening in. It runs so smooth on the support bar and is highly adjustable. It's a beautifully thought out and well built jig. I bought it because the cheap jig with my whetstone sharpener was twisting under tightening and only cut at an angle. Within 5 mins on my grinder with this jig my wonky blade was coming back to square. Buy it. Pain in the pocket but a lifetime of pleasure in the using.

Awesome. I can now repeatably grind a perfect camber in my plane irons. It also does a great job of adjusting for a straight and square grind. This jig has been a long time coming in my opinion. Because the Tormek system is so nearly perfect and so well made. The original Square Edge Jig did not reliable produce a perfect square edge. I always had to fiddle with mine to get perfect square. This jig makes any slight correction very easily and on the fly (...almost- turn off the machine while adjusting I suppose) And although Tormek doesn’t make a big deal about it- it will grind a camber if you loosen the thumb knobs about a half turn each for most smoothers. Nothing else on the market will do that - at least not that I’m aware of. You’ll love it.

I have the king brand sharpener that comes with a flimzey square jig. I got this because it’s better quality. Looks like it would work well except the bar isn’t long enough on the king sharpener to accommodate the range of motion required. I might been willing to keep the jig except there is a tab on the back of the jig that bumps the closest vertical bar and again limits the range of motion in the other direction. Otherwise it’s a great jig. I considered modifying the jig to make it work but I decided to send it back.

Ik heb deze tormek gekocht voor een ander merk slijpmachine, maar hij past gewoon. Veel beter dan het hulpstuk dat ik bij de originele kreeg. Echt een aanrader als je een slijpmachine voor je beitels of schaven gebruikt.

Die Vorrichtung ist viel massiver als gedacht, gewohnt hohe Qualität von Tormek. Alles ist sehr durchdacht, sogar an Befestigungsmöglichkeiten für die Endanschläge wurde gedacht. Die Schleifergebnisse in Kombination mit dem SJ200 sind hervorragend. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
