BEST FOOD SCALE EVER
DIGITAL KITCHEN SCALE BY ZERLA This is the BEST food scale EVER. Trust me on this! This is a pretty simple scale to use. You press the TARE button to turn it off or on. You push the left button for unit of measure. You can measure in ounces, grams, pounds. The screen is easy and bright for your reading convenience. Portion control has never been easier. We use this scale to measure out foods but we also use it to measure ground beef. We purchase bulk ground beef and like to divide it into one pound bags for freezing. This was always a guessing game until now. We just put the meat in a bowl and add the beef until it is at the one pound point. Simple, easy, convenient. Another great thing about this scale is when you put a container on the scale to measure ANYTHING - the scale automatically subtracts the weight of that container and you are left with the exact measurement of the item in that container. How cool is that? The scale comes with two AAA batteries. When said batteries are low and need changing the screen will indicate "lo". You must plug in unit to charge when necessary. This is a home kitchen scale and should not be used for industrial use. It is a great buy for the price. Our daughter has two of these in her home for her uses. There is also a money back guarantee within 30 days of use if you are not happy with this scale. Who could not be happy with this? It is accurate, precise, and measures very efficiently. Recommended.

Great scale
This is an excellent little scale. It’s size is great for small kitchens and it is extremely easy to use right out of the box. It comes with batteries which always wins brownie points with me. I like being able to Change the units. I used it to weigh food in ounces and some baby formula in grams. I measured two containers of powdered formula to make sure I’ve been filling them equally all this time. They were .4 grams away from what the package says two scoops should weigh (one was .4 under, and one was .4 over) so I was happy to known that info. The scale was very easy to zero out, and gave readings quickly. There is a small manual with very easy instructions and info. Item was well packaged and shipped well. I was wanting a scale anyway and I’m really glad I was able to get this one. Definitely recommend. Update: have been using this for several things but mostly to make sure my sons formula volume is consistent. He is at 5 oz and scoops only go by 2s, and I’m just not okay with fully wasting an entire ounce every feed. The issue is that half scoops can be highly objective to the eye even with a half way line on the scoop. I also never felt like scoops were consistently filled. There’s be an air pocket in one, or overfill in another. I jsut didn’t like it. So I did an experiment to see how consistently I was scooping. I was able to accomplish this with this scale. I also wanted to use the tommy tippee storage cups so I was able to zero those out on the scale. Turns out The scoopers resulted in pretty inconsistent bottles. 5 oz should be about 22 grams. I was finding that they were 24g, 21g, 19g. Using this scale I am now able to make sure they are all 22g. It really only takes like two extra minutes to do and helps me feel better about it. I included a new pic of the containers all even

Inexpensive and Indispensable
I couldn't operate in my kitchen without a scale. I bake, I calorie count, I follow (most) recipes to the letter - and having a scale like this with four units of measure (milliliter, gram, ounce, and pound) fits all my needs. I often make recipes from foreign chefs (Jamie Oliver, Donna Hay, Nigella Lawson...) and their cookbooks often have ingredient measurements in grams. This scale makes those recipes much easier to use - I don't have to do the conversions myself! It's lightweight, has an easy-to-read display, is easy to clean, and it shuts itself off in case you forget to do so (or if your hands are covered in flour!). I didn't have to spend a lot of money on those pricier kitchen scales to get something I needed and will make great use of. It takes two AA batteries (which were included) and I guess we'll have to see how the battery life is as time goes on. It's also a nice size that fits easily into a drawer or kitchen cabinet.

Works as advertised, color a little misleading
It's ready to go right out of the box, with two AAA batteries included (standard generic batteries). I've compared a few different weights, and it seems accurate so far, so I have no complaints in that department. The instructions that come with it are fairly simple and to the point. I've used a few different types of these scales and they're all about the same in how to use them. The scale itself weighs about 12.5 oz with batteries. The tare button is the on/off button and the tare button. To turn off, the scale has to be at 0, so if it's not, you have to tare first, then when it's at 0, push the tare button again and it will shut off, or just wait two minutes and it will shut itself off. You can change weight between gram, mL, oz and lb. The gram/mL is in single increments, so my cup that weighs 8.33g rounded down to 8g, which is correct. For items that are lighter and need an accurate weight, I usually use my smaller scale. You want the right scale for the job, so I have my gram scale that goes out to 1.000 that I use for things that are generally under an ounce, this one for most of my basic measurements, and then I have a larger scale for heavier things, but this one has turned into my all purpose scale for most things that aren't too heavy. My only complaint is that silly save your batteries function, where the scale shuts itself off at 2 minutes due to inactivity (and less time if the batteries are low) This happens even if something is on it and a weight is showing. Sometimes I realize that an ingredient I need is far away, and by the time I get back, the scale had shut off, and I lost the measurement of what I was weighing. I understand the saving battery function, but really wish this was an option for me to decide if I want my batteries wasted or not, or at least an option for more time before it shuts off. The color seems a bit off in the ad as well, it's more on the cream colored side, and it looks more silverish to me in the picture, but that could be my computer screen. It's mostly beige. The instructions are poorly written but mostly understandable, I misunderstood the instructions prior to making my video that the scale would warn you if it wasn't on a level surface, but that was wrong, I think what the instructions were saying is that if the object you are weighing is rolling around, the scale will tell you "unst" to warn you that the measurement might be off. Overall I'm quite happy with this one, but I took off the star because of the lack of function to turn off the battery saver mode.

Great, inexpensive little scale!
This is a great little kitchen scale. It's pretty much everything you need for kitchen functionality. I have three other scales around the house for various uses.. most of which are more expensive than this unit but it des everything they do. Compared to my other units, this guy is lighter and has a faster response time. I also love that the scale doesn't turn off on its own for a few minutes so you have plenty of time to do your business without having to worry about it shutting off. That's an annoyance with one of my other units so that's a nice feature. It does turn off automatically, but not for a few minutes. Been using it for a week and it's accurate compared to my other units, durable and easy to clean. Definitely no complains. Accuracy is down to the graham, so should be suitable for even baking uses.... can't beat that for the price.

Stays on long enough to use it and weighs down to the gram!
For years, I’ve weighed everything before I eat it to know that I’m not eating too much or too little. My old food scale started fluctuating and not weighing properly, so it was time to get another. On the old one, the display was directly under the top of the scale, so even a small plate cast a shadow that made it difficult to read, so I knew I wanted one like the Zerla that is more offset. The Zerla screen is much brighter and easier to see at more severe angles. To test if a food scale works properly, I always use Skittles candy. Each Skittle weighs one gram, so it’s easy to add one Skittle at a time and see if it counts up properly. The Zerla food scale weighed perfectly, but note that it does take a half-second longer to register the weight than my old one did. It’s not so long that I’d consider it a flaw, it’s just a difference I noticed. The Zerla food scale has all of the usual features of a tare button to zero out the weight of the plate before adding food, and it can weigh in units of grams, pounds, ounces, and milliliters. Like my old scale, this one turns itself off automatically to save battery power, but my old one turned off after only 50 seconds, so it would shut off while I was still preparing food and trying to weigh it. The Zerla scale, on the other hand, stays on for a full 2 minutes and 6 seconds, which is long enough for me to do what I need to do. Overall, this food scale performed exactly as it should, and I didn’t find any flaws with it, so I highly recommend you give it a try. 5/5 stars

Extremely accurate scale for measuring. Very well made and just the right size
This zerla scale is one of the best kitchen scales I have used. The unit weights are grams which is in 1 gram increments, lbs, ounces and ml. The really nice thing besides the large base is the large display is very easy to read. There is a shared tare button to start where once its placed on a flat surface you can put any measuring bowl or cup, hit the tare and the scale Sets itself to zero to start no matter the weight of your measuring device. Then as you pour in any ingredient powder, coffee, ect the weight will be accurately displayed in the units you have chosen. For me, I use it to weigh coffee, which needs a precise measurement to get the best flavor. The scale uses 2 AAA batteries as well which are provided with the product. It also has a two minute shutoff in case you forget to turn it off to preserve the battery life. You can also shut off the scale manually by hitting the tare button again once. If your looking for a quality scale for measuring food or any other item buy this scale you will not be disappointed guaranteed.

Good scale! There’s a reason why it has many positive reviews.
There are lot of small scales here, so I spent time researching this purchase. I am very happy with this model because it’s simple to use and works well. Two months daily of use, and still on the original batteries. It’s easy to tare my dish or plate with one touch as I’m powering up the scale. Another button switches easily between oz, g, and fractions of lbs. No, it won’t measure liquid volume in milliliters (the scale has a selection for ml, but that is just a mistake on the part of the manufacturer; milliliters is a measure of volume, not weight!). Don’t disregard this scale just because of that error. A few people mentioned battery life issues or that the scale powers off before they’re finished with it. However, I’ve seen no evidence of either. I usually remember to turn off the power when I’m finished with the scale, but if I forget, within two minutes, it automatically shuts off. It’s well worth the $12 price! I’m confident that I selected a good scale and want to recommend it to others.
