Owning a Porsche, BMW and Volvo Polestar has been a challenge for a OCD afflicted owner. Brake dust seems ot be in European car manufacturers DNA. Ceramic coating is ineffective, you are in a battle to constantly get as much off as possible with the least amount of contact with the wheels ot prevent scratching and damage, I have used SONAX products for a decade and found them to be effective and as described. Now let's get this out of the way, this stuff STINKS. If stink level was the parameter to effectiveness there is a reason why your wheels get clean. After spraying on I usually leave on for 5 minutes until it has turned completely purple and will rinse and use very little agitation to get the wheels very clean. The G89 M3 has these very complicated wheels that if I did not have the SONAX I would spend 2 hours on wheels alone. The Porsche wheels are a little better and the Volvo wheels are just a nightmare because there is little room for your hand. Again the SONAX helps with that by spraying in the small gap between wheel and caliper.

I bought this on a whim. Admittedly I was quite skeptical and did not take before pictures to compare. I wished I had because the differences were quite drastic. I just expected this to be a cleaner spray like what you’d use to clean the dining table. Instead it really is a no-scrub cleaning solution. The key is to follow the directions. The directions says you should apply to dry wheels, not wet ones. I think a lot of people who complain about its effectiveness didn’t read or follow the directions. I was expecting to spray and then scrub with a brush but after spraying and waiting 5 min, I literally just rinsed it with a hose and most of the debris came off. It’s NOT just a spray cleaner. It has some sort of chemical reaction that dissolves iron and other dirt. The instructions says it turns purple when it comes in contact with iron and it really does. On the brake rotors and pad where there are lots of iron filings, it turned purple immediately. On the aluminum alloy rims, it only turned purple on dirt stains I had a few obvious stain splotches on my wheels and after spraying them, they turned a deep purple. After 5 min I rinsed it away and they were gone without any scrubbing! The only small issue I see with this is that the bottle is quite small. It is much smaller than your normal spray cleaners. I used this on both my cars and it’s was 2/3 done. I probably have a total of 3-4 car applications in total. For about $16 it’s a bit pricey, but at least it works. Better being pricey and working, than being pricey and does nothing!

I have used this product for several years now, and it works well. Best to spray on and let it sit for five minutes or so so that the chemical process can do its thing. Generally rinses off clean, but some wiping is inevitably needed for a completely clean look. It's a bit pricy, and the bottle goes pretty quickly, especially if you have more than one car.

I buy a lot from Amazon. This is one of the few times I am say that a car product actually worked exactly as advertised!!! My rims are flawless after using this stuff…I would definitely get the twin pack if you can!!! Very pleased 😀

This is by far the best wheel cleaner I've ever used. I've used both Meguiar's, Mother's and Chemical Guys. They all worked decently, I tend to prefer the Meguiar's Hot Rims over the rest; however it doesn't come close to how well this works. With 4 piston brembo calipers and hawk hps pads, my Evo's brakes spew out a TON of dust onto my wheels. It's a constant battle to keep them somewhat clean. If I let it sit on there too long and gather more road gunk, it was impossible to get off with Meguiar's (or anything else) alone, and would require scrubbing (sometimes with a harsh/dangerously hard bristled) brush. Not anymore! This cuts through caked on rims even after a couple months of horrible neglect. You might need to use two passes with it, depending how hard caked the gunk is. My advise is: -First spray the wheels with my meguiars soap and pressure wash them to get off as much as possible before applying this. -If you have a light cleaning (usually less then a couple weeks for my car), then you can get by with spraying two rims at a time. If you're going to have to scrub some of the gunked on mess it's probably best to do one rim at a time. Spray your rim(s) generously getting in your inner rim if possible, your lug nuts, etc. -The liquid will come out kind of greenish and then turn an orangish/redish as it breaks down brake dust. It has a very strong (like cat urine) odor that you just have to get used to. -Let it sit on there for a couple of minutes (usually don't want more then 5). You don't want it to dry on the rim, although having accidentally done this - it washed off no problem. -If it's a light cleaning you can probably get by with just pressure washing it clean at this point, although to make sure you get all parts of the rims I usually go over it with Griot's Garage 15704 Micro Fiber Wheel Wand, (Pack of 2) . If the caked on mess requires harder scrubbing I'd recommend something like autogeek's "speed master wheel brush". This bottle usually last about 16 individual wheel cleanings. It makes it the most expensive option out there, but by far the best and safest! It is acid free and ph balanced, and is specifically designed to be safe on all rims. I use this on BBS, Enkei, and WedsSports rims that cost over 1000-1500/per, all the time. I have no worry that this can in any way danger them. A lot of other products out there can be a hit or miss, and especially if you have refinished rims it can be very risky. My BBS are refinished and so far this has not worn it off or damaged them whatsoever. If you're looking for a bit cheaper solution, there's Sonax 230500 Yellow Wheel Cleaner to use as a refill. You can also checkout autogeek, depending on their sales, coupon codes, and shipping situation - you can usually find a better deal there.

where to start. I put this up against meguires hot wheel and rim cleaner and I must say I was a little shocked. Here was my setup. 2001 dodge caravan. The rims have never been scrubbed and the wheels have never been scrubbed either. Sure they have went through automatic carwashes, my wife usually did it about once a week but never have these rims been scrubbed at all by hand. Surprisingly they were not nearly as bad as some youtube videos I saw so I guess car washes once a week still helped out a bunch. Anyways following directions for both, the sonax sat on the rims for 4 minutes and the meguires about 30 seconds. I really expected more from a $20 bottle of wheel cleaner, I saw lots of youtube videos and I just felt this was going to stomp meguires. Keep in mind I had no plans on putting this up against anything. Turned out I forgot I put the $5 add on bottle of meguires in an earlier order to meet my minimum then the next day I bought this. Anyways the sonax did ok. It took a fair amount off, It did turn nice and red which makes you think its working its butt off. After the rinse though, it was still very dirty. The meguires rim, you could see in just 30 seconds it sliding right off. Rinse and inspect and it got a lot more of the rim cleaned than the sonax rim. So for the other 2 wheels I did the exact same test but this time I used a small round detailing brush to get into the lug nut holes and went ahead and used it to go over the entire rims, mind you this was a fairly soft brush so there was no real scrubing action here. The sonax wheel did better this time but still left some areas on the rim. I suspected as much as it was not a scrubbing brush I was using. The meguires rim just amazed me. Same brush, almost no pressure at all and after the rinse that rim looked amazing. There were still a couple spots but it got the majority of it off with so little effort. So my conclusion, Sonax did ok. Not $20 ok but it did work. The $5 bottle of meguires though, it blew it away. In a no touch situation it was better than sonax but not night day difference. In touching the rims to clean though, sonax again did ok but that $5 bottle did it in a fraction of the time. The downside with meguires is you will go through more of it quicker. I did 4 rims and tires and I had between half and 1/4th left. So if sonax can clean about 15 cars with one bottle then maybe it is more price efficient but it also took longer and more cleaning effort.

Read many of the great reviews on here for this product so I decided to give the best cleaner a try. This cleaner eliminates the grime off wheels with little effort. Please do not be disappointed if you have not cleaned your rims in years and it fails to take off the smallest part of baked-on brake dust. Not everything is perfect! I only recommend you use this product on rims that are completely filthy (most likely your front rims). Rear wheels, in my opinion, do not need to be sprayed as much. I also recommend agitating it after a few minutes with a brush as there was still some minor dirt remaining after I power-washed it off. You will be surprised at the shine that is brought out after cleaning. It will look like you spilled red wine on your driveway from the red aftermath and black dust. For $15, I think this product is with not having to got on my hands and knees to scrub every crevice of one wheel until my joints go numb. BE ADVISED: The odor of this is absolutely awful and toxic. The Germans probably do use cat urine as an ingredient as this reeks. I sprayed all wheels two cars outside at the same time and I almost fell over from the strong smell. It's a cleaning product, so I do not expect it to smell like an air freshener, but I will be wearing a face mask next time I use this. Even after washing my car and scrubbing my wheels, there was still a hint of cat urine. I haven't used a whole bottle yet, but I think you couldn't clean more than 10 cars with this bottle. Regardless, it definitely is worth the money!

Product was a little pricey and bigger supply quantities unavailable but otherwise was fantastic at removing iron fallout and grime from my alloys. Leave on for five minutes, agitate with a wheel brush for best effect and rinse off, Didn't bother cleaning with soap after it was so clean!

This product works great. 1. Wash the rims with water (I used warm water) 2. Apply the Sonax and let it stay 3-5 min. Make sure you spray just a bit. Don’t wash them with Sonax :D 3.
