How do I get my headlamp open to change the batteries?

It's a little tricky because a new unit will stick. The entire half tilts out for the light angle adjustment which can be confusing because it's easier to grab the tilting part than the part that opens and closes the back. The way to tell which to pry open (and the first time I had to get a flat head screwdriver because it was stuck) and which is the tilt, there is an "eye" type tab on the top front (the side that has the two buttons that turn the lights on and off). It's like a slot. I found that because there are hinges on the opposite side which indicates it's going to open in that direction (as opposed to tilt or do the angle thing) in that direction. Unhook that giant slot with a screwdriver or something, and the hinges will open. Battery slot for 2 batteries is about the only thing inside.

What is the different between spot light and flood light? Do I need flood light?

Spot light is brighter in the central and illuminate far away, suitable for outdoor running or cycling. Flood light is softer, lights up a widespread area without dazzling the eyes, suitable for reading or delicate work.

DO NOT GET THIS AS A HIKER or camper

This head lamp is pretty bright and it serves its purpose of being able to illuminate the area around you but its extremely unreliable. First, one of the headlamps didnt turn on at all, it was completely useless. The second really big issue is that it doesnt have a lock out mode and it kept tyrning on while in my backpack no matter how i placed it.. so unless you want to be stranded with an uncharged headlamp because it was on for hours during the day, do NOT get this. Youre much better off spending a little more money on something that has a lockout feature
