Cordless Precision Engraver

I have a lot of keys I keep track of and. I inscribe each one with this gadget.

I bought this engraving pen to mark my laptop. Never having used one, I thought it might be difficult to handle. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover it's almost like writing with a pen. The tip dug/dragged only a little, which makes sense because it's gouging the metal. But it's minimal, so engraving legible letters and numbers worked well from the start. Also, the pen is light weight, comes with 2 AAA batteries, and fits in the hand like a large pen. Highly recommended!

This thing is decent. I got it to engrave some small washers that I was making into necklaces for my nieces and daughters for Christmas. It did do the job although the bit wore out pretty quickly and sadly the replacement bits were a bit (excuse the pun) expensive. It doesn't have as much power as I expected and seems to take longer to engrave than my Dremel would. But that aside this is way easier to use than the dremel since it is so small and I have small hands. Personally It'll be used a lot here for small odd jobs and crafting. If you're looking for something heavy duty, I would say just get a dremel. If you just need it for odd jobs and crafts this will work just fine, just expect to work a little slower than you would with a dremel. Also, it is not compatible with the dremel bits and I did make the mistake of buying the wrong replacement bits. You have to read the product info and buy the correct bit for this specific engraver. It does not use the universal sized bits.

Perfect for basic designs on basic metals and woods

This cordless engraving pen has potential but falls short in key areas. While the diamond tip is precise, the motor lacks sufficient power for engraving harder materials like metal effectively. It works better on softer surfaces but struggles with consistency. The cordless design is convenient, but the battery drains quickly, limiting its use for larger projects. Additionally, the build quality feels less durable than expected. It’s adequate for occasional, light-duty tasks, but not reliable for more demanding projects. Overall, it’s a basic tool with limitations, better suited for beginners or very simple engraving needs.

I do a lot of glass engraving and use a Dremel engraving tool for most of my work. That is a vibrating type of engraver (vs other Dremel that I use that is a rotary). This tool is also a rotary and as a result can do bit finer work than the Dremel engraver. I was able to pick up on Amazon a set of the diamond bits that fit this (my Dremel takes larger bit) and so far very satisfied. You do have to push the button continuously when engraving. Not difficult but would be nice if it had a locking mechanism so you did not have to keep pressing if using for extended period. But that is minor item, at least for me. Have not tried using this on metals or surfaces other than glass so cannot comment on its use there. I find that for signing my work this is far superior to the Dremel engraver although care has to be taken in either case. This is addition to my earlier review. I have a set of diamond bits to use with this tool but when I went to change the bit I found the original bit frozen and would not come out no matter what I tried. I called Amazon and got the phone number for General Tools. Before ordering a new one I wanted to be sure that the bits were removable. Seemed so since had a locking nut but wanted to find out for sure. Told them I was just over my one year in warranty and explained the problem. Told me they would be happy to send me a new one at no cost and today via UPS it arrived and this bit is easily removed. Cannot say how impressed I was at the service. Could not have been nicer on the phone. They did not want the old unit back saying that occasionally there is a bad unit. So am giving to friend who wants to try on marble in his professional art work and if works am sure he will be buying his own. Not often you find a company this responsive on an item like this one. As a result I would not hesitate to order other tools from them.

Not strong enough and bit will only last for a few uses. Not worth it even for the price it sells for
