PC-Products PC-Woody Wood Repair Epoxy Paste, Two-Part 12 oz, and PC-Petrifier Wood Hardener 16 oz, Kit

For any kind of wood repair, PC Woody is a great product. It mixes easily, has a long working time, it is easy to shape while it cures, and is rock hard when fully cured for sanding, drilling and cutting. It can fill any sized hole in one application. You have to keep an eye on large fill areas to push any sagging back in place while it cures. That is a small price to pay over multiple applications that require a day to cure. I have tried other wood epoxies that took forever to cure or was sticky when cured. I have used it to repair wood rot and termite damage. When I was done it didn't look like it had ever been touched. Be sure and use the wood hardener for a good base. After curing for a while, before it is fully set, I used acetone to smooth the surface and make sharp corners to cut down on sanding. The stuff sticks to everything. That is why it has 3 stars for application. I haven't used any product that doesn't. Rubber gloves and acetone makes application easy.

We had rot in corner of wood window trim and sill. Used reciprocating tool to cut out the rot, then sealed the wood with the liquid and shot foam in void. I had extra trim and cut a replacement piece out of it to minimize cutting. I was worried about the two part material setting up quickly, so I applied it right after mixing. Don't do that... it sags in large fill areas. Elected to do job in two sessions. Wait for it to be putty consistency, then use it. Use alcohol on tools to work it without sticking. Hardens great, sands and acts just like wood, so prep for round two was easy. First photo shows hardened first step. Filled rest of the way the next day, then the following day sanded and primed. Then two finish coats. Ended up with a little wave, which resulted because the replacement piece pushed in a bit too far. Should have used shim. This was my first time, so overall pleased. No one ever notices.

The whole kit worked great. It does what it's supposed to,but, the petrifier does not last. You end up using almost the whole bottle for one project because it takes 2 coats or more. Also, the petrifier takes longer to cure than the instructions state but it may be because I live in a humid state. It may cure quicker in drier areas. The putty is my favorite. I will be buying this kit again purely for the putty. It sets up like stone and handles being in water really well after it's fully cured. It is extremely sticky once both parts are well mixed, not sure if this is a downside. It stayed in place really well.

The wood hardener is magic. I used it on several dry rotted areas and it restored the wood so it could be filled in without replacing it, saving me from having to replace an old window sill. The epoxy paste was too hard upon opening it and didn't mix well...the results are too sticky, and gloopy, and might have been old. I didn't hate it, but I will look for a better product. It does sand well but filling in holes or cracks doesn't work easily. It's like using the stickiest chewing gum. It ends up globbing on with peaks and bubbles and areas that you can't fill in at all because it sticks to the putty knife, or hands. Unfortunate. My feeling is PC Woody makes good products, and I can't picture a better hardener, but buy that one alone and try a different wood filler.

The Hardener works as advertised and the 2 part Epoxy Paster repairs damaged areas and is very hard once cured.

This stuff is the real deal. Watch the instructional video, use a small brush to push the petrifier into all of the scraped-out rotten wood crevasses, but most importantly-- have a wet rag ready! The petrifier will absolutely stain your siding, brick, etc. The MOMENT a drop rolls off your wood and onto the siding, wipe it clean with plenty of water! Other than that, it absolutely works like a charm. As for the PC Woody epoxy-- I LOVE it. I've used Bondo in the past, and you have maybe 10 minutes before it starts to harden, and it leaves a terrible mess. I love that I can use the PC Woody and take my time. Even after 45 minutes to an hour, I can still go out and use rubbing alcohol to smooth any surfaces down into shape. In my pictures you can see my poor bay window which was *covered* in rotten spots. I scraped out the rotten wood (sometimes very delicately), and used the petrifier. Multiple coats were needed, especially for the bits that were upside-down. What you see in my first picture (all the tan spots) is everywhere there was rot. The tan substance is the PC Woody epoxy paste. In some cases, I had to let it mostly harden, then come back and do a second application. Wait about 30 min to 1 hour after you put it on to smooth out with rubbing alcohol. This project took a long time, but painted it looks pretty good. I could have done a better job sanding, but oh well. Every professional (painters, carpenters, etc) all estimated I would just need to replace my bay window for about $6,000. For less than $40 in supplies, incl. paint, I was able to patch it up. Who knows-- it might still need to be replaced in a few years, but at least I would have extended it a few more years.

The wood hardener was simple to apply with a cheap paint brush. There was enough for two coatings on the entire project. The Epoxy paste, I wish I was never introduced to it. I'm glad there wasn't enough to complete the project. It is difficult to mix. While there were no problem applying, it was too soft and sticky to mold. Drying time was about 30 min. It is was so difficult to wash off hands that I trashed the tools. I will use another brand medium to complete the project.

I have used these products for years to repair items with wood rot. After killing the wood mold with propylene glycol (another purchase) I apply the liquid wood hardener and then, after that dries, fill any holes with the epoxy. I have done window sills, outdoor furniture, door frames, fence posts, garden arbors and it lasts for years. I have also used it to repair large resin flower pots and garden decor items.

There was allot more rot on the window I was fixing than I expected. So I needed to do a few passes with the hardener first. Then when I mixed the compound, I did as in the video, I mixed only a small amount of it at a time. Did a few small amounts on the first pass, then more the next day. It definitely sands well and looks like it belongs. Would recommend for any rotted wood.
