A great journal, and very convenient! (Once you loosen the binding like I tell to.)
I keep a journal - a large, free-form, sprawling journal - but I've always liked the idea of having a journal in which I wrote one or two sentences for every day and did so consistently for a period of time. THIS is exactly what I'd been thinking of. Normally, I don't like small journals. I want something big so I can write and not feel cramped. But this is a small one - and I like it. A lot. It's small enough to fit in my purse, and given the purpose of this book, that's awesome. For something like this, you WANT something small enough to fit in your bag so that when you've got a few minutes, you can pull it out, write in it, and stick it back in. For me, I can discreetly pull this out while I'm killing time in court (we're not allowed to read books or fool around on our iPads as we wait for the judge to take the bench), and write a few sentences and stick it right back in my briefcase. People just assume that it's a little personal diary and I'm writing a grocery list or something. It's innocuous but more importantly, very convenient. Plus, it's lovely. It has gilded pages, and I think they're so pretty. I have no idea how well they will hold up over the years, but I don't really care. They're pretty now and even if they fade a little, so what? I noticed that many of the other reviews complain that the binding is tight and makes it hard to write in the middle pages of this book. I can offer some help with that issue. It's probably true that the binding is a bit tight. This is what you should do with ANY book where the binding is tight: 1. Hold the book so that it rests on its spine. Rest it on the table on the spine. 2. Let the front cover fall open, and down. Press it down a little, gently, so that it lies flat on the table. 3. Do the same with the back cover. 4. When both the front and back cover are flat on the table, with the pages pointing up, then take a few pages from the front and gently press them down to rest on the front cover. 5. Take a few pages from the back and gently press them down to rest on the back cover. 6. Keep doing this until you get to the middle of the book and all the pages are resting flat. This is the best way to loosen the binding gently, without damaging or breaking it. This is exactly what I did when I first got this journal. I loosened the binding gently so that I coudl use it and have not had any trouble writing it. If you are too rough with it, you risk damaging the binding or breaking it, which you don't want to do. Just follow my instructions and you'll loosen it properly, and be able to enjoy this journal for a long time.

Great quality book with good questions
So excited to look back on this and add this to my box of journals when I’m done, such a great way to see how you change over five years!

Priceless Journal to use for years.
I am grateful for the journal. I bought this book back in 2020. Over the last 5 years, It has allowed me to see inward, plan my future and really reflected on my life. Each day, I am able to check in with myself and watch me grow as a person. This book was a key tool in my self love journey. I have the couples Q & A book as well. We're on out 2nd book. I love to go back and see the pages where we're just open and loving with each other. It help us stay on track and connected as a unit. I always recommend it to newlyweds. I'm so happy with the journals.

The perfect, easiest gift for people of any age
I like the questions, they are small portraits of what I'm currently doing and feeling. They also make me think about myself and my life, drawing out good memories for me to ponder. Many questions are quirky, and bring out my sense of humor upon answering them. I like to add more substance to my answers, rather than just answering "what I'm currently reading" (which is The Hobbit!), I wrote my opinion about it (awesome!), and added the graphic novel (Saga!) I just finished. I think it's a REALLY great personal project, I'm excited to continue writing in it, and reading it in other years. I wonder what will be different, what will be the same. With that knowledge and perspective, I can decide whether I'm staying true to my goals, matured, or even if my attitude has taken a turn for the worse and therefore I should reconsider my path. It would be an AWESOME high school, creative writing project to give to students, and continue through school and college years. I would have loved to have this back then, and to be able to now see what my life really was (or how I viewed at that moment). It'd be a great gift for any age, high school, college, work-place adult, whatever! And to think, maybe my kids would see this one day; it would definitely be interesting! They would forever have a tangible piece of me that they could come back to again and again, even if it's quirky questions and random facts. I really have nothing bad to say at all about this product, shipping, quality, whatever. Next year, I'm definitely buying it for my sister and friends!!

Exactly as described , well worth the purchase
Happy overall. Only flaw or complaint I see, is that the very tight binding will probably come lose over the years, pages may fall out, and I'd prefer the book be just a tad bigger, maybe spiral bound. That being said, I LOVE the idea of this journal / time capsule that offers a quick question daily. I don't feel compelled to write an essay, just a quick note today if that's all the time I have. I can use a regular journal or notebook if I want to be more detailed, etc, but this is perfect for me...and my 2 sons. They each got the kids' version too. Very pleased, and will definitely buy again. This will make a perfect gift for the people who seem to have everything or are super hard to buy for; really for anyone.

Personal time capsule
I had one of these years ago when I was in high school and I still occasionally look back at my answers. I decided to get a new one and it's exactly what I expected and wanted. It's a fun little personal time capsule!

A genius premise, with insightful (& sometimes hilarious) prompts...
I've been writing on a daily basis since I was four years old, but I have trouble keeping up with a daily journal that will document my adult life, so this book is the perfect way to remind myself to stop and reflect on my values/loved ones/daily habits every day. I'm terrified that I'll lose it after keeping up with it for the first few years (I misplace things, temporarily and permanently, on a regular basis), or that I'll forget it at home on a long trip... but the majority of the entries aren't specific to that particular day, so when I forget for a few days, I always make sure to catch up. And it's thick enough to find it easily in a stack of papers. The premise: This is definitely a fascinating experiment in human growth, and while I wish I'd started a few years ago, I think ages 27-32 will be particularly full of change, progress, and insight. I'm also still "finding myself" so to speak... and I'm sure I'll be laughing at my own naivete when I revisit the same pages a couple years later. The questions: As a creative writer, I can always appreciate a good prompt... and after a month of use, I appreciate how many of them get me to think and write about things I never would've considered otherwise. There's also a very good mix of specific and general questions, so I never get bored or feel forced to write about uninteresting or generic topics. The outside: On a purely superficial note, the book is very high-quality, though if you throw it in a bag with other objects (as I did), the gold trim will get some noticeable dents. The size is just right for easy transport, and the pages are just thick enough to let me use fine-point Sharpies without bleeding through. I'm glad my handwriting is small, though, because four lines are barely enough to contain everything that flows out of me.

I Love This Idea
I love this idea. I do some professional writing, but nothing in a journal format since I was a teenager. A friend of mine recommended "Wreck this Journal" as something that opened up her inner journaler. I visited Amazon to learn more about that book and I know that I could never destroy a journal. This product was a recommended product. I've really never thought about having a five year journal, but it sounds awesome. I've been doing it for about 2 weeks and the questions are kind of general (what is your favorite gadget, who is your best companion), and I've made a few "off topic" observations too (for example, when the Aurora shooting happened, I ignored the prompt and wrote about that). I love the flexibility to write what I want for major events in my life, but if I don't have anything to say, I have a prompt. That's been a problem with my adult journaling. Every time I've tried, I've found myself having not a lot to say every day. Teenage me always had something to say! These prompts will be a fun record of "me" five years down the line. It should be fun to see how they change and also keep track of my thoughts on major events. Some people have mentioned the size as a con. I like the size of the journal. I've been keeping it by my bed and writing in it before I go to sleep. It doesn't take up much space and the cover is not very assuming so nobody would really think to pick it up and read through it. I think the space is sufficient. Some days I've wanted to write more than the few lines on each page, but it forces me to be succinct. More than my wordy days, I have days when writing a whole page, even to the prompt, would be daunting. So, I'm glad there's not more than a few lines. We'll see how it holds up over the years. The binding doesn't seem to be too impressive for a book that will be opened everyday, but I hope to be proven wrong!

Great for people who want to start a diary but stuck for what to write
I really wanted to start writing a diary, not so much to document my life, but just for something to look back on in years to come. I'm no good at the traditional method of keeping a diary because 1) I never know what to write that isn't the same mundanestuff. 2) I usually always give up within the first week or so. This 5 year journal is perfect for people like me. It gives you numbered pages but with 5 blank year dates so you can start at any time of the year (just simply turn to that day) and even if you stop and then start again later down the line, it doesn't matter, it'd just mean you might not have the same years written all throughout the journal. For example I started it half way through 2011, stopped after a month or so and then started again 1st January 2013. I did read through some of the answers I'd written 2 years ago, and it was interesting to see how things have changed since then, and also to have a nice reminder of some joyful memories I had forgotten about. People might not think that they can change within the space of a few short years, but the answers you will write in this journal for each day for 5 years, is proof that you can! It's also a nice way of jotting down some special things you don't want to forget. Some example questions include: What is your mission? What is the last TV show you watced? Jot down a news story from today. How much spare change do you have? What was your favourite day this week? What's your hairstyle? Today you wore _____ Where do you think you road is going? Bad news: sugar coated or straight up? Who is the last person in your missed calls? Halloween plans? What's your costume? What time did you go to bed last night? Did you meet someone new recently? If so, who was it? Yes or no: everyone should have a back-up plan. This journal is a great way of getting to know you, and how you've changed over the years. It asks both insightful and random questions, so every aspect is covered. It also makes a nice memoir of yourself to read in later years or to give to your children etc. My only problem is that I cant wait to answer the question for the next day!

Must buy!!
It's really high quality and looks very aesthetic. I bought it as a gift for my brother and he loved it. Must buy!!! I was a little concerned if the quality of questions would not be up to the mark but I have read about 40 at random and they're really good questions. My only issue is it's a little small in size but the pros make up for it.
