OVER 140 MILLION COPIES SOLD The beloved classic story about a young prince's travels through space―a profound philosophical tale about loneliness and loss, and love and friendship. A pilot crashes in the Sahara Desert and encounters a strange young boy who calls himself the Little Prince. The Little Prince has traveled there from his home on a lonely, distant asteroid with a single rose. The story that follows is a beautiful and at times heartbreaking meditation on human nature and the wisdom of the heart. The Little Prince is one of the best-selling and most translated books of all time, a classic fable universally cherished by children and adults alike, and Richard Howard's translation of the beloved classic beautifully reflects Saint-Exupéry's unique and gifted style, bringing the English text as close as possible to the French in language, style, and spirit. A Classic
This is the original French version of a classic. The story has touched the lives of both young and old. The enchanting illustrations were by the author who was well known writer and pilot.

Wonderful Edition in Original Language
I'm thrilled to have found this 2013 edition, which beautifully preserves the original 1946 French text. Reading "Le Petit Prince" in its native language is a rare treat, and this copy is in excellent condition. It includes the author's iconic illustrations, and they truly come to life against the high-quality, thick paper that gives the book a premium, tactile feel. The book itself is really well-designed and a joy to read. The layout is super clean, and the font size is perfect. It's honestly the best way to experience this classic philosophical fairy tale for any age, exactly as the author intended.

The book that has come to define my life
I first met The Little Prince in a college French class and my love for him has continued to grow for almost half a century since. For "les enfants" who meet him, he's wonderful, but grown ups need to remember that what is most important is invisible to the eye so grow and age with our mutual friend. My husband and I take our friend with us on every trip, reading a chapter aloud together, noting where we are when we read. We finish and then begin again for voyages with The Little Prince are never the same. We also collect a version of the book in the language of different countries we visit. I could add many meaningful encounters with him, but one he gave me will always speak to my heart. Thirty years ago when my dear sister was far from me and in the final weeks of her battle with cancer, I would read it aloud to her over the phone -- once again just a chapter or two each time. As we neared the end and the Little Prince gave that wonderful gift of a star to the pilot, she stopped me and said "You know, from my bed I can't see the stars tonight, but I can see the moon. So tonight I want to give you a gift.. I'm going to give you the moon. Now every time you see it you'll know that we are connected and although at first you may be sad, eventually you will smile and my read wish is that you will begin to look up at the moon and laugh because you'll know we are joined together -- and people around you may look at you funny and ask why you are laughing at the moon -- but you'll just tell them it was a gift from The Little Prince and your big sister.. "Ce qui est important est invisible aux yeux."
