I have 2 of these and the pin for lever keeps falling out when opened. i have lost one pin. before i purchase another how can i prevent this?

I have never had this happen. You could return it if still eligible for return or you can epoxy it in with epoxy steel. You can also make a pin from brass and peen doth ends to keep it in. Or you can flatten one end of the pin and drive the unflattened in first, so the flat end binds in the top hole. Just return it if you can like I said I have never had this happen . It's got to be a one out.

What size base rail for a marlin 22XT M (magnum)

It's 11mm or 3/8 inch . Majority of 22 rimfires are this size. Magnums included.

Can these be mounted to a scope as a carry on item when flying? Or will they consider these "gun parts?"

Why would you want to pack them in your "carry on? Firearms or other weapons are declared and secured according to TSA rules. Then they can be stowed in regular baggage. So should hardware that doesn't need to be within reach in flight. If you travel with long guns just mount the scope or otherwise stow it in the "DOUBLE LOCKED" case with the firearm. TSA won't care. FYI ammo is a no go in any mode, not even in a mag. Carry on is for things a person can't live without like a change of clothes, make up, business documents, etc...like that.

Do these mounts have the ability to tighten and loosen grip strength ?
