Definitely gets the attention of other divers under water. The air horn is loud and high pitched for distance hearing.

does not give out a loud sound, both underwater and above water.

I tested the underwater alert unit and liked it.So I bought this unit that combines both alerts, because sometimes it's important to have an additional signaling device other than the marker buoy.This unit is cool because you have 2 alerts in one device. My only issue is that I wanted a more strong air alert, like a horn, but it's like more a wissel. But it works too!:)
