Aren't these basically the same as Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scouring Pads, which are a lot cheaper?

You could probably find Scotch Brite pads that would work but you have to make sure they won't scratch the surface.  These pads will not scratch.

Can these be used on Induction glass top cooktops?

Accepted Answer

Yes, these can be used on Induction cooktops, as that is what I have. But honestly, these aren't anything magic, they're just nylon pads. They don't have any cleaner in them or anything special. What I found to be far more helpful is Weiman HEAVY DUTY Glass Cooktop Cleaner & Polish. I use their regular cleaner for everyday cleanups and the Heavy Duty Cleaner for cooked on or more stubborn messes. It just seems to melt it and you wipe it away - no scrubbing required. Do you need to use a cooktop cleaner with it? like cerama bryte? that part wasn't clear.

I accidentally left plastic on hot glass range top and plastic melted onto the glass. Will it remove burned plastic?

The best way to remove burnt plastic on a glass-ceramic cooktop is to use the Cerama Bryte Cooktop Scraper and Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaner. Turn the heat to medium on the burner area where the plastic was burned on. As soon as you see that the plastic that is in contact with the glass-ceramic cooktop starts to soften, turn the burner off. Use the Cooktop Scraper and scrape off the melted plastic. May need to repeat if a great deal of plastic was burned on. After scraping off the melted plastic, turn the heat to high and burn off and remaining plastic. Turn off heat and allow to cool. Then, apply Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaner and rub with dry paper towel. Buff clean.
