Pyle 4-Channel High Power Stereo Speaker Selector - A/B/C/D

I've just installed this unit and I'm giving it five stars at this time but we will see in the next few months how it holds up on the speaker distribution. One key note to understand is to pay very much attention to what impedance / ohms you are using and how much each channel can handle.

This is exactly what I need to control my outside speakers when I want to listen to music by the pool. I can also hook up two different sets of speakers inside. Great product.

Works well

@todd g You are exactly correct: the "Protection" button (essentially undocumented, hence the loss of a star) puts an extra 3 ohms of impedance in the circuit (confirmed this with a VOM), to protect the amp if the combination of speakers (which are connected in parallel by the device) drops the impedance too low. Specifically, it ensure that even if you have 4 sets of 4 ohm speakers (which would drop the impedance to 1 ohm), you still have 4 ohms of load on the amp, which is the lower limit for most (modern) amps. However, if that is your setup, don't turn off the Protection button, or at the least your amp will shut down, and the worst set off your smoke detectors (assuming they work!).

I hooked this up to my amp and then hooked up 4 sets of speakers to it. It worked as advertised. Pretty nice for the money.

I should have read other reviews. I have had hit and miss luck with Pyle products previously. In this case it was a miss. Right out of the box the build quality does not inspire confidence. The panel buttons feel flimsy and do not provide tactile feedback that confirms action. On the back panel, it gets worse. As others have mentioned, the wire insert connectors are flimsy and lock levers do not always "bite" the wire even when inserted deeply. Who knows what quality is under the hood. The brief time I did use it, my small test amp stopped working making me wonder if this box had something to do with it. In sum, I could not trust this device to do the amplifier and speaker A/B switching I intended to use this for. My advice...pass and spend a little extra for something better.

Very good device

My 26-year-old Sony AM/FM receiver died, and the comparable Sony replacement unit lacked a second set of wired speaker jacks ("B") like the old unit had. [FWIW, as far as I could tell after searching really hard, no current Sony receiver accommodates a second set or wired speakers, nor do they include an AM tuner...sigh...]. This Pyle device provides that missing speaker function. I can now (again) listen to only "A" (along with the rest of the 5.2 options in the family room), or just "B" in the kitchen, or even "A" plus "B". To use the Pyle device, I ran four wires from the new receiver's main front L&R jacks into the input of the Pyle device, and connected the main front L&R speakers to the Pyle's output for switch "A" and connected the satellite speakers in the kitchen to the output for switch "B". Note: I did have some concern since all four speakers are 8Ω, and worried that having A &B engaged simultaneously might result in impedance mismatching; however, that seems not to be the case -- or at least, not to the point that causes any problem for the switch or the receiver's amp, both of which include "protection" functions. I would recommend this product.

It's used for 50 wattage less amp power. Purchased without any proper details on site. My amp is powered with 100 plus wattage. It's now lying useless.

I had purchased a cheap alternative to this and it simply didn't cut the mustard, no issues with the pyle product and works exactly as it should!
