Children have questions and struggles just like adults, but rarely are they given the chance to voice their concerns and ask the big questions resting deep in their hearts. In Dear Pope Francis , Pope Francis gives them that chance and celebrates their spiritual depth by directly answering questions from children around the world. Some are fun. Some are serious. And some will quietly break your heart. But all of them are from children who deserve to know and feel Godโs unconditional love. Also available in Spanish as Querido Papa Francisco . "Feels akin to sitting in on a series of intimate conversations." - Publishers Weekly "The People's Pope shows that he is a down-to-earth man who understands both religion and children." - Kirkus Reviews Review: Excellent book for a religions gift! - I bought this book for my son's friend for his 1st Communion. Wow. It's so precious! The questions that kids ask Pope Francis are so honest and heartfelt, and he answers these questions in a realistic way that my 6 year old could understand very well. (I bought another copy of it for my kids when I saw the one I bought as a gift!). It's really a nice way to read a page or two and open up the conversation with your child about some of life's most difficult questions to answer. There are some questions that are not deep, such as "What did you like to do when you were a kid?", but that doesn't matter. It adds some levity to the book and also lets children see that Pope Francis was also a child, he is a human being to makes mistakes, who has frustrations, etc... and so that is a good thing. Review: Beautiful book - This book is amazing! The letters are from children all over the world and even written in different languages. Pope Francis wrote back and provided answers to simple and difficult questions in such a beautiful way that truly speaks to children and people on every level. My children love reading it!

A joy for readers of all ages
Not only did I enjoy this book, my children did too. I have found both my sons reading a letter or two now and again. As someone with a busy household, I appreciate the fact that I can absorb the words of Pope Francis in small bites. The questions asked by children envoke some deep theological thought, but I don't have to devote hours on end to reading in order to appreciate the Pope's responses and reflect on them throughout the day. It is great to be able to see the letter from the child as it was written along with the child's picture. My kids especially enjoyed seeing the letters written in other languages (with translations). It gave them a greater sense of the global nature of the Catholic faith and initiated some conversations about Catholic practices and traditions that are different in other countries. I bought a copy for my father as well and though he's used to reading much heavier theological studies, he is enjoying it as well.

Absolutely incredible! Real letters from real children all over the world. Some are just cute and dear; others are astounding in the "largeness" of the questions asked. But the really extraordinary thing is how the Holy Father responds to each child in a way that seems both at his or her level but also often wonderfully profound. NEVER does he talk down to the child and since children evidently often have the same tough questions in their heart that adults do, adults will also enjoy this book. One of the treasures of my life was sitting with my Mom just before Easter and reading this book with her. Mom has advanced dementia and it's amazing to me that she can still read, pretty well in fact. But it was also obvious that these questions were so carefully collected -- chosen by the Pope himself -- and replied to that my Mom "got it". She can't tell you her birthday and she's forgotten her husband of 60 years she could read, smile and comment on these letters. What a privilege to share them with her!

What a wonderful and powerful book this is
I admit to being a big fan of Pope Francis. I received my copy of Dear Pope Francis this afternoon and sat down and read it. What a wonderful and powerful book this is. The some times profound and sometimes moving and most often simple questions of children from around the world and the loving and caring response given by Pope Francis brought tears to my eyes and moved my heart. It is a book I will share with my 7year old granddaughter but also with anyone who wants to learn ways to deepen their love of God. I can see it being used with children in a classroom - taking one question at a time to read and discuss. I can also see it used by those who give sermons directed at children. If you want some answers to the questions - Why are there not as many miracles anymore? What did God do before the world was made? And one of my favorites Do bad people have a guardian angel too? You will find the answers from Pope Francis in this book. The illustrations were done by the children who asked the question and are beautiful. Great book.

All good letters/responses but one
I admire Pope Francis and his efforts around the world to bring people back to the faith. I purchased this book for my grandson's First Communion, but one of Pope Francis's responses speaks of suicide. I do not believe this topic is appropriate for young children, and I don't want to introduce this idea to him or have to explain it to him or have his parents explain it to him. The question from the child could have been answered just as beautifully in another way. The book is joyful and profound in so many other ways. I am truly disappointed. I have returned the book.

Everything You Wanted to Know about Faith but were Afraid to Ask
Iโve given this wonderful book to friends, family members, and godchildren because of its beautiful and profoundly straightforward answers to tough questions about faith. Though written for children, adults will also find the Popeโs answers incredibly helpful. Many of the questions posed are ones we continue to ask into adulthood and the Pope responds in a relatable, loving manner. Itโs refreshing to see these topics (miracles, heaven, sin, prayer, etc.) discussed without the academic and heavy theological language one might expect, yet still with incredible depth and resonance. Whether youโre a "kid from one to ninety-twoโ, youโll love DEAR POPE FRANCIS. I canโt recommend it more highly. This short video helps explain why this book is such a rich tool for intellectual and spiritual growth. I hope there is a DEAR POPE FRANCIS for young adults soon!

Listen to the voice of a true pastor.
Read it with your children, grandchildren, any young people you know. A perfect present. Many adults can also gain benefit from reading Pope Francis' replies to the childrens questions.
