Cheap, but effective.
I'm upgrading a cruiser bike. I bought a Schwinn and EVERY part on it except the frame was machined to the wrong tolerance so nothing moves the way it should. Even the original crank was bent so the main bearings suffered uneven wear and broke after only 3 rides. It was cheap and I REALLY like the frame though, so I'm buying upgraded parts for the thing. So I'm replacing that p.o.s. bent crank with this. It seems like it will work better. It's straight and all the parts screw on the way they should. And it is black. I think it's paint, not an anodized coating. I'm using this for a cruiser but I assume it would be just as nice on a BMX. Note: this is ONLY for the 1-piece type of crank system; NOT the one that has the crank arms (the bars that hold the pedals) detachable separately. It is NOT for the "sealed" bearing types. Just the old-school setup that has the ball-bearings exposed so you have to grease them by hand when you install them. There are about a half dozen different types of crank/bearing arrangements so check to make sure this is the right one for your bike. Anything with a "1-piece crank" setup should be fine. Anything else, not so much. I am still waiting for the new bearing set to be shipped, so I have not yet installed this piece. I just checked the threading and alignment by screwing my old bearing parts onto this for a quick test.

Tough as nails
Great cranks! I'm still riding a 29" BMX with a one piece in 2025...because they work and never wear out! Easy to maintain and are tough as nails.

Great for the money, Schwinn cruisers require grinding
Decent finish, some blemishes but good for the price. My 1986 Schwinn Cruiser chainwheel didn’t fit over the crank (crank was slightly too large for the center sprocket hole) so I had to grind down the crank a tad bit for the sprocket to clear and sit flush agains the crank. Paired this with the Sunlite lower crank set 24tpi 68mm and it worked perfectly. Will probably work with an aftermarket chainwheel but I wanted to keep the OEM clover chainwheel that came factory on the bike.

Good Price Looks and Works Great
The Sunlite Crankarm is a good buy for the price. Fits well on my old Chicago Schwinn cruiser bike. Have had trouble in the past with the hardware not fitting the threads, even though the TPI was the same. Everything fit together well and installed easily.

Works
I ride a cruiser with a fender over the sprocket. Was surprised that this crankarm could still rotate even though it wasn't as "square" as my old one. I had to replace my old one because of its poor manufacturing. The holes for the pedals did not face perfectly perpendicular to the bike frame, making pedaling difficult. Also, the peg thingy that held the arm to the sprocket was welded onto the crankarm weird, almost messing up the sprocket. Thankfully, this new crankarm is almost exactly like my old one. The difference? It's curved a little more and better made.

Works great
I have an older "beach" type cruiser that I love as it is perfect with its coaster brake to take my Plott Hound for daily runs. Don't want to levers when holding onto a dog..... My crank was worn out. Threads were stripped. This was perfect fit. I also picked up the matching Sunlite bottom bracket cups/bearings and now they all match and are new. Rides well.....
