Powerful Recorder – Worth the Learning Curve The Zoom H8 has been a bit of a learning curve, but totally worth it. We used it at our first wedding videography gig and got perfect audio, clean, clear, and professional. Once you get the hang of the interface, it’s a brilliant tool with loads of flexibility. A must-have for serious wedding and music videographers!

This handy record is extremely well made, very rugged and quite easy to use. Getting phantom power on to drive condenser mics is a little tricky but once it is worked out it’s fine. The onboard xy mics are good quality and the adjusters are very handy too. Overall I’m very very pleased with this product. A great purchase at a great price

Great item! Have uploaded the diagram that came in the box, for others to see, as it wouldve been handy for us to see when picking which recorder we needed. Luckily it had the correct connections.

sound quality and the number of inputs is excellent. touch screen pretty fiddly and feels like it could be frustrating in a time sensitive situation - user interface not the easiest to deal with compared to older models. Your mileage will certainly vary don't let this review put you off, it just wasn't what I was looking for right now! great bit of equipment with amazing sound quality, just way over my head personally.

Purchased to replace a Zoom H6 which 'died'. Limited experience using it so far, but, compared to the H6, some advantages and disadvantages already apparent. Sound-wise, it has good mic pre-amps and the 6 XLR inputs available offer a bit more capability than the 4 XLR inputs of the H6. The mic level input control knobs [dials, more like] are smaller than those of the H6 and rather fiddly by comparison. Also, adjusting settings via the small touch screen is [literally] a rather hit and miss affair - especially in a 'live recording' situation. The plug in mic units [stereo and M-S] of the H6 are compatible with the H8 [which comes with the stereo version in any case]. The multi-angular shape of the H8 is not as user friendly [in terms of a hand-held device] as the rectangular H6. The build quality is also less robust than the very solid H6, so possibly less suitable for a robust life on the road.. Time will tell if it is as user-friendly as the H6, and as intuitive to operate.

Not much of a difference between the H6 in sound but if you want the touchscreen capability and some extra features that can save time in your work flow then this is the right tool, quality is amazing and love how it feels when holding it.

Anything you need when it comes to mobile recording. I would also give 5 stars for the professionalism the providers, Videolinea System from Italy, who brought it before the day it was supposed to arrive.

This review is about Amazon Warehouse through which I bought this item. The item itself was good and in apparently unused condition. It even had the cellophane screen protector intact. But it was meant to come with packaging and accessories and didn't. It was just the unit without anything else. There were batteries inside but at first I thought the unit was broken. The batteries were dead. There was also an SD card inside. Not sure if one is supplied (I'd always use my own high quality ones), but the one provided was shagged. So defective SD card and flat batteries with no packaging. It was noted that I wouldn't receive the manual, and that's fine as PDF is far far better. But the original comes with a licence to some fancy audio software and this was also missing. So I'm a bit disappointed and may follow up to see if I can get some money back or return it.
