Only flaw is huge noise

Awesome fan, highly recommend it

We’ve had at least half a dozen Vornado’s over the years- there’s just nothing else like them if you’re really wanting to move some air! We run 2 smaller versions of this year round (6 years and still going strong) on a 16’ ledge (see my photos) to help move air and make the temperature feel more comfortable in summer, winter and all the times between. They’re reliable (as long as you clean them periodically, especially if you use them a lot like we do). This one is probably one of the loudest we’ve had… LOUD! So keep that in mind depending on where you plan to put it. You’d never be ableto have this on high power hear a television in the same room unless you were wearing headsets. That said, this thing is quite the powerhouse when it comes to moving and circulation. We have a small hallway that separates the master bedroom from the master bathroom… the bathroom and hallway are always the perfect temperature, but during the summer, our bedroom stays several (3-4) degrees warmer than the rest of the house. We tried installing a wireless thermostat, but because there are so many windows in the bedroom, it just didn’t work. We used ChatGPT (🤭)to come up with a solution to get more of the cooler air from the bathroom and hallway into the bedroom, and this was one of the suggestions. Being familiar (very familiar!) with the Vornado brand, we went with it. I will say that the stand not only looks awkward, it just IS awkward. Obviously it doesn’t affect the function of the fan, but it doesn’t have a streamlined look (personal preference ). It also makes it more of a hassle to move when needed, and since we have it in a small hallway, we have to move it often. It’s fairly heavy, but definitely not a monstrosity. The adjustability of direction is fairly good- keep in mind that these fans do not oscillate back and forth- they are stationary. The circulation and no one from the tornado effect and the power behind it. It pulls in massive amounts of air and forces it it to ‘bounce’ off of the facing wall /corner/ceiling. If you have high ceilings and can’t get a regular ceiling fans to bring warm air down, this would definitely help (pointed upwards to the ceiling) to brings all the warm are that rises back down. There really is no installation- just place it and plug it in. The power cord is completely separate from the fan (see my photos) which has proven many times to be a real convenience.Bottom line- I definitely recommend this fan AND the brand itself. They have many models varying in size and power, depending on your needs. Just remember that these are not quite whispering fans … they’re powerful and you can tell it when you hear it! Fortunately, you can choose the speed/ power by simply turning the dial, and while a lower setting will obviously be a little quieter than than full power, it’s still fairly loud compared to others on the market. That said, it’s really comparing apples to oranges when it comes to comparing this to other fans. The closest thing would be a utility fan BUT they’re not nearly as energy efficient as Vornado and our experience has been that they don’t even come close to lasting as long. If you’re still unsure, choose one that qualifies as an Amazon Prime item, and if you plug it in and aren’t blown away (🤭) you can pack it right back up and return it.

Okay first off, you probably should not use this as a regular pedestal fan. This fan moves more air than its 900+ cfm would suggest. The air coming from this fan (okay, air circulator) does not buffet, it's a steady stream of wind. Or, you could buy this for a very quiet low-energy fan for a living room or bedroom. As long as the power knob is under 75% or so, it does not make much noise. Above that however, it's what you'd expect from a fan running at its maximum speed. The knob is on the back of the fan, and is adjustable for as little or as much as you want from 0-100. No more 3 settings!With that out of the way, I love to have a breeze on me in bed and our old fan died on us. The bearings wore out on the old one so I was looking for a replacement. Besides the price, this fan looked like it would do everything I asked of it.It'll tolerate being run all day and all night due to the ball bearings, the power consumption is really low (a claimed 60W at full power, which I almost never use), and it's super quiet. More importantly, this fan produces a serious breeze. And the 10 year warranty is a huge plus, though I'd expect something like that given the asking price.So far, I've had this Vornado propped up on a box so it'll reach our bed (the standard height is about 40 inches, not enough for a pillowtop). This fan has been running more or less nonstop since we bought it about 8 months ago. Other than it could use a cleaning, it still functions just as perfectly as the day we got it. For that, I'd definitely give this model a recommendation.Fun fact: Vornado used to be some sort of turbine engine manufacturer, and this air circulator at times does sound like a (very quiet) jet engine.The only things I can nitpick on this fan are:1) The power connector comes disconnected easily. Even a kitten could pull it out with no issue.2) Even though this is an excellent fan, it might be a hard sell at that price.3) The range of movement is limited, such that (at least mine) does not like to point up. Something probably just needs to be tightened slightly.

Functionality: The airflow is fully adjustable from mild breeze to full output, with a variable speed dial at the rear of the fan housing. Stand assembly is simple (2 hex bolts with wrench included), with an option to omit a segment if full height not needed. The weight of the product is not excessive. With a ten-year warranty, the build quality is obviously superb. Stability of the fan on various types of flooring is not an issue, the base forms a wide stance. No remote control function is available, but that could be changed with attaching a third-party switch on the power cord. Thorough cleaning of the fan body is simple, the fan housing grill clips easily detach with assistance of a flat-head screwdriver, and the blade is totally removable. I am very happy with the purchase, and would recommend. The only downside I noted is the sound volume at full fan speed, but this is somewhat expected with the high volume of air being moved.
