Barrettes - 3 Count

The illustration in the title of this review -- 8O : ) -- represents a happy lady, (me....or any other purchaser), wearing these wonderful barrettes! Officially called "3 Inch Domed Stay-Tight Barrettes by Goody", they have been around a LONG time, and I, for one, am very, very glad that this quality product -- and other quality hair products, (including all their wonderful barrettes), are still available from Goody. Like many people, I first saw 'Goody' barrettes, on the shelves of the late, lamented, and greatly missed classic department store, WOOLWORTH'S, 8O :_( But at least these wonderful 'Goody' barettes are still around! In the same 3 colours, (gold, silver, and brown), as before, they attach easily to the hair. I like to wear all three at once -- first putting in one barrett backwards, then raising the resulting semi-pony tail up, and attaching it to the rest of my hair with the other two barettes. I'm (very) slightly handicapped -- but, with a little effort, I can still do this entirely by myself, as these barrettes take in a good deal of hair, and STAY closed when you close them! (These barrettes are for average-thickness hair. If you have very thick hair, I suggest you use the Goody For-Thick-Hair barrettes.) These are very pretty, very shiny barrettes. The silver and gold colours are "foil-bright", and show off dark hair very nicely. (I've seen some very rich, blonde-haired ladies wearing black bows in their hair. Nice contrast if you have blonde hair -- but for those of us who don't, the silver and gold barrettes are a nice contrast for darker hair. As is the included brown barrette, for blondes who want to have more control over their hair than just putting in a bow!) It's too bad Woolworth's no longer exists. I've called up the company that replaced them, Footlocker, and they've kindly told me that Woolworth's has not just been incorporated into Footlocker -- it has been totally subsumed, and so sadly, Woolworth's itself totally no logner exists, (outside of England, where a totally different company, though with the same name, and same products, continues to exist.) My memories of Woolworth include those wonderful punch-out Valentine's Day Card books, and my first introduction to the luxuries of linen writing paper -- Fifth Avenue Notepads. And, of course, wonderful 'Goody' Barrettes. If even a "[...]" is totally out of the question by this time, (sigh! sob!!!!!....note to Footlocker -- I'm sure that a resurrected [...]' would be a BIG hit! I'm sure I'm not the only person to greatly MISS those Valentine's Day Card books!), at least the Woolworth's reputation for quality AND value continues, in some products once carried by Woolworth's Department stores, and still available elsewhere. Including these great 'Goody' Barrettes! A true classic, these barrettes are made by the 'Goody' company. The fascinating history of the Goody company, (which was acquired in 1993 by the Newell-Rubbermaid company in 1993). Yet, Newell-Rubbermaid graciously allows the proud 'Goody' name to continue! And no wonder -- with a reputation for excellent, very inexpensive hair-products, 'Goody', IN hair products, means value and excellence! These barrettes are easy to use, keep hair in place, and look great! They are definitely "keepers"....and I hope Newell-Rubbermaid, (and their subsidiary, 'Goody'), continue making them forever! 8O : )

I've used these for decades and they are the best. Very functional, and work with fine hair. I had a hard time determining which size is their medium size (The large size is too big for my fine hair) and these are the correct size. The Large size is a bit over 3", while these Mediums are a little under 3" as you can see. I think if you buy the ones labeled "classic", those are the larger size. The photo below shows the measurement of these barrettes.

These looked like what I wanted, but if I had seen them in person, I would have known they were one size down form the size I wanted. However, I am older now and my hair is thinner and I can (now) fit all of my hair into a ponytail at my neck., with this medium size. When I was younger and my hair was fuller, it would not have been large enough.

Item arrived and performed as described. I recommend this product and seller. Super easy to use. Good price, quality and fast delivery made this purchase an overall good deal.

These are great for people with fine hair, or not too much hair

These clips are good, as long as you stick with the metallic-colored ones. I use the dark one regularly, and after a while, the dark color rubs or chips off. Not what I was expecting, but since my hair is thick, these are the only clips that are easily applied and hold consistently, so I'll stick with them. Update -- After months of use, I've found that even the metallic colored barrettes lose their coating by chipping away with wear. It starts on the underside of the clip, where the thumb rubs when applying to hair.

These are great barrettes! I've not been able to find them for a long time. They are 1/16" less than 3" long, which is the size I need.

Useful, comfortable barrettes for growing out hair of different lengths. Last a long time, hold hair securely without breakage.
