The light is even across the complete light. Use them with a magnet mount. Very useful

What is the lux output for this camera? How far can it be from the subject while still being effective?

I can't directly answer the question - I use it as a fill light for video meetings. At about 3 feet away I use it on or near the lowest setting. Ultimately the answer to your question may depend on the ISO rating of the camera or recording device. Lightmeter at ~10 feet gives an EV of 7-8 on brightest setting at 5600K if that helps.
