Two great artists collaborate to create an experience that combines the sounds of nature with the work of the world's greatest composers, including Pachelbel's Canon, Bach's Air and Debussy's Reverie. Instrumentation includes keyboards. Review: Love This for Relaxing (Not Sleeping) - "Classic" classical music meets Mother Nature. I've really come to enjoy this CD very much. At first, I found the chirping annoying but only because I was trying to fall asleep to it. Besides, chirping always reminds me of fresh dawn when you're supposed to be waking up. A few years back, I went through a period of having trouble falling asleep - couldn't clear my mind enough to doze off, and thought this would be the perfect solution. A few random tracks on this CD have briefly done the job (for instance the ocean waves crashing onto the beach), but at the time I was only able to play the whole thing at once and in order. I'd lay awake for the first couple tracks, doze for the next, then wake up again, etc. Who wants broken up sleep? So, I ended up having to buy Dan Gibson's "Sleep Deeply" (another CD I love!) for the sole purpose of relaxing me enough to really fall sleep. Nowadays though, with iTunes and customizable/rearranging music-playing devices/software, you can pick the most relaxing tracks on this CD to play for night-time sleeping. So anyway, I love listening to this for mindless relaxing (beer or glass of wine in hand), doing chores around the house, working on the computer, reading, working on crafts, stretching and meditating; maybe even short day-time napping. Totally appreciate the chirping, now that I'm not relying on it to fall me asleep and keep me in REM for at least six hours straight. If you're someone who can fall asleep during anything loud or with the TV on, especially to action-packed shows (gun-shooting, cars crashing) then some of these noises won't even be a problem! Review: Great collection of songs - Loved the music.

Relaxing
Nature sounds combined with selections of my most favorite classical pieces of music create an aura of relaxation. My favorite Dan Gibson recording.

Excellent way to get to sleep
In fact I will be enjoying this cd tonight. An excellent method to relax before sleep. Soothing melody and pleasing sounds from nature. Love this cd and others like it.

Absolutely love this
My deceased husband of 1yr bought this for me 12 years ago. I found the disc case so I was super excited to play it as I recently had to purchase an external DVD player. When I opened it there was no disc. I realised that I sold my previous car with the disc in the player. I think my decision to purchase a replacement after 12 years should say something about this product!

Confusing, but Two Different Versions of this CD
The song title listing on this page is inaccurate in that the oldest version of this CD (1988) has "Wilderness Lost" as the 11th song...not "The Dream". Both songs are beautiful, but I absolutely love "Wilderness Lost" all by itself, actually. In a way it stands out like a sore thumb on the CD because it has an Orson Welles-type narrator lamenting the fall of creation at the hands of the evil of humanity, then he drifts away as the songbirds reenter the scene. It sounds like something out of a sci-fi flick (vignette from Kurosawa's "Dreams"?) and I still count it as one of my "Replayables" (a song I can listen to over and over and over for who knows how long!). So, be alert as to the different songs before you purchase your edition of the outstandingly beautiful "Harmony" from Dan Gibson.

Gread meditation/relaxation CD!
I love most of Dan Gibson's works but I enjoy this one as background noise for my baby girl as she goes to sleep. The best thing is the the music is played on traditional instruments and not some cheesy electric synthesizer. That makes a huge difference. The last track is nothing but tranquil ocean waves which I loop for myself when I need help going to sleep. Crystal clear sounds and fantastic music. One of Dan Gibson's best.

BIRD SONGS AND MUSIC
This is an OUTSTANDING work of musical "art", as is ALL of Dan Gibson's nature sounds and music. Anyone who enjoys bird songs and soothing music in combination, will definately want to come back for more of Dan Gibson's works on CD. This one is one to be EXPERIENCED.....along with ALL of his other works with nature and music weaving together.

This is the fourth time I have purchased this CD as I have worn out all my other copies. This is stunningly beautiful music, masterfully combined with sounds from nature. I play this Cd often for everything from meditation to making dinner to sitting by the fire. Whenever you want that calm serene feeling and/or just listen to some beautiful peaceful music. All the best classic composers mixed in an awesome composition. One of the best and I would buy it again in a heartbeat should I wear this one out also.

Bought for my wife who likes gentle atmospheric music, but not a great deal of classical. It's her favourite album, must be nearly worn out.
