(New 1oz Size) Uber Goop Light Grey Dishwasher Rack Coating/Glue (Bottle only)

I bought this stuff because my 26 year old dishwasher is in perfect running condition but the racks are rusted in places and if you can locate a rack for your dishwasher, they cost a fortune. It makes sense to just buy a new one. The repair guy told us we were crazy to get rid of this dishwasher right now. So I went searching for something to fix the racks and came across this stuff. It wasn't an easy task to do but I did it. If my husband attempted this task, the rack would have ended up smashed and in the trees, lol. I sanded all the rust as best I could, my hands took a little beating and I'm sure some neighbors could hear my garbage mouth. Still better then if it were my husband trying to do this. After sanding I wiped it down with alcohol, let it dry and then applied the Goop. Stuff is a little hard to work with because it dries so fast. I started this outside because fumes are strong. I also used a cheap artist brush to apply because the brush in the bottle broke. After a couple of hours of cursing, I finished. I put the racks back in the dishwasher and every night for about a week (the dishwasher went unused), I put a quick layer on all the spots because one part of the rack was almost rusted right off. Started using the dishwasher and it's been a couple of months now and it's holding solid. Despite my cursing and sore knuckles, this stuff is amazing and well worth it! Now my dishwasher better last a long time lol.

This is my 4th bottle of Uber Goop over the past several years. This stuff is awesome! I’ve kept three dishwashers from needing new racks with this stuff. Replacement racks for old dishwashers can run a couple hundred dollars so Uber Goop has saved me hundreds!! I have used the wire caps as well and those stay on well with the Uber Goop. The Uber Goop does an excellent job keeping rusty spots from coming back and has strengthened those wires that had severe rusting and were nearly at the point of breaking off the main rack. Best results when you get all the rust off before gooping. I use a steel wire wheel brush in my drill and carefully power brush the rust away. Use a dust mask as that stuff gets in your nose and Yuck!!! Sandpaper works too in the hard to get areas. Be sure to look closely at your rack to spot the rust just as it starts to bubble to factory coating so you can nip it in the bud as they say.

Works as advertised however the liquid develops a skin within 2-5 seconds and clogs the brush in under a minute of application. Also this stuff runs out very quick, seems buying an 8-10oz can of plastidip and a pack of brushes is much more economical.

Gooey fingernail polish for my dishwasher. First off, I am NOT a light grey. Light grey is almost white. Second, my dishwasher had more rust than I thought. With the racks out, checking every weld and joint, you find more. Stuff went on easy, minimal dripping, but use a newspaper. Feels just like the original finish when dried. I will revisit this post after some use. The picture shows light grey on a LG rack against a white sheet of paper. UPDATE: After 6 months of regular use, the repairs are holding up perfectly. No signs of rust or damage. UPDATE: More than 2 years, still holding up.

Scraped off the rust and painted it on the racks. Perfect color match. Seems to be holding up well.

Easy to use if instructions are followed. Did a good job. I bought light grey for my repair of light blue racks and the color blended in well. I needed more than expected since there was a lot of rusting under the racks which I didn’t see until they were removed. Worth the money and time to make my old dishwasher last a few years longer.

Peels off in a short while, but arguably better than nothing. The one ounce size is probably best, since you will be doing multiple coats, but I found I could not store the small remainder for a couple of months, despite capping firmly. Definitely priced above it useful level.
