DEWALT DW2701 #8 Drill Flip Drive Complete Unit, yellow

I picked up the DEWALT DW2701 #8 Drill Flip Drive and haven't looked back. It's incredibly sturdy and the flip drive is a real game-changer – makes swapping bits a breeze. It's compact enough to fit in tight spaces, and the yellow color is surprisingly easy to spot in my toolbox.

Quick and easy.

I inherited one of these from a friend who passed. Had never seen one before, but loved the concept as soon as I had. Having the screwdriver bit on the opposite end of the drill bit really saves time and allows you to cruise through your projects. I do find the tiny Allen-wrenched set screws a little hard to work with, but that’s mostly a blindness/lack of good light in my shop issue. Bought this one for a colleague who was as equally impressed as I was. Great deal for a great tool!

So partly on me that I didn't read that this doesn't work in an impact driver and is only meant for a drill. So grabbed a drill and tried to use it and none of the set screws were tight and it literally came apart in my hand. Once I tracked down the small (standard not metric) allen key (not included) and tightened everything up it worked great.

I have had a number of these over the years, and they are in my opinion the best ones on the market! They are fast to flip over the the countersink, and they just push right back in without having to hold anything up for it to lock in. You can put whatever size countersink in it and you can have the drill bit out as long as you want as there is plenty of room. These hold up really well and have always been my go-to drivers!

I've used the Makita 'Quad-driver' version of this accessory for years. I love the concept. My only beefs with the Makita version is that the lock'unlock mechanisms eventually wear out. And that the shank is slender. Which means that hitting the tip of the tool too-often bends the shank. A bent shank means the tool wobbles, and I've never been able to get it back into precise alignment. The DeWalt solves that with a stouter shank. And the lock/unlock mechanism is slightly superior. But it lacks one very important thing that Makita includes. That is the built-in allen wrench at the butt of the shank. Which means if I want to switch tips... I have to hunt up the correct allen wrench. That is QUITE aggravating. I'll probably eventually rig some sort of work-around, but we shouldn't have to. Makita has show the perfect way to solve the issue. No idea what inspired DeWalt to skip that feature.

handy tool to have in the tool kit! nice for making shelves! they work for basic drywall screws to get a flush fit on the joints. buy extra bits. they work well in any mid sized 20 volt battery drill. i would buy at least two of them.
