Can this be used to tighten loose skin as a paste with water?

Hi, Alum has astringent properties. It can tighten loose skin. However, it would require a long term application and its better to use it with some face or body clay such as a fullers earth, french clay etc because alum will not form a paste with water. Hence, it won't remain applied on the skin but it will drip. If you mix it with a clay, then it will stay on the skin. Alum is well tolerated. However, if you are a first time user, please conduct a hypersensitivity test on feet or arms with a small amount before using it on face.

Can this be used to purify water?

Yes. However, it would be a very expensive choice to use this food grade Alum powder to purify water. You can use commercial alum for that in order to save money.

Making things last....

I used the alum powder in water to make my cut flowers last. The flowers stayed fresh for 3 weeks or more, as long as I trimmed them, changed the water and reapplied the powder every other week.

Impure and bad quality

The texture is inconsistent there’s normal salt looking pieces and then there’s just pure dust. It’s also impure. When making a solution it was very milky, I had to let it sit so that the dust can settle in the bottom. Set my project behind days.
