I have owned this CD for nearly three years, but have only just nowgot round to writing a review. Often, if you've had a CD for three years, you're bored with it and no longer listen to it. This is definitely not the case with the soundtrack from Edward Scissorhands. I listen to it as often as when I first bought it, which is basically all the time. I don't own any other CD that I listen to so much. In fact, I would quite happily throw away all my other CDs if I could only keep this one - it is definitely my "desert island disc". The music takes my breath away every time I hear it. I marvel at Danny Elfman creating such heavenly tunes. It's like music by angels. Unlike most of the reviewers here, I am unusual in that I am not a big fan of the Edward Scissorhands movie. But you don't have to be a fan of the film to appreciate the music. In fact, I think it's a shame that people probably only decide to buy it because they like the film; the music stands on its own as the most magical music you have ever heard, and I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with it. I like Danny Elfman's other soundtracks, but this is his masterpiece. It draws you into a magical, otherworldly realm. It makes me think of fairies, and elves in forests, and magical wintry scenes of snow and ice. Last winter, it was snowing one evening, so I put on this CD and watched the snow falling out of the window, and felt I'd been transported into a different world. I've told my husband that I want the opening tune to this album played at my funeral. I can't think of more beautiful music to send you on your way.If you love mythology and fairy tales, or just wonderful music, buy this album. By the way, I think the Tom Jones song at the end is, in its own way, magical.
