Aroy-D, Panang Curry Paste (Pate De Curry Panang), 14 oz

I bought a variety of panang pastes from other manufacturers, so far ive only tried two of the other brands. This one is winning because it has great flavor and isnt too spicey. Here is my recipe. Oil pan fry 4lb diced chicken thighs Add 2 large green or red or yellow peppers Add 1 onion sliced and halved Add 2 to 3 tablespoon Aroy D panang paste (amazon) other brands are very hot spicy. Add 1 can coconut milk shake cans first Add 1 can coconut cream shake first Add 1 can green beans or fresh green beans Add one round palm sugar cube approx 2 tablespoons (amazon) Add 1 heavy tablespoon brown sugar Add 2 tablespoons fish sauce Add 15 dried keifer lime leaves (amazon) Need to make 4 cooked cups of rice for a pot this big. You can add some peanut butter less than tablespoon, if you like that. Makes enough for 4 hungry people with a little left over sometimes.

Excellent flavor for home cooking. I found a recipe and started making a Panang curry sauce because I liked it so much when I ordered it from a local Thai restaurant. This curry is delicious with salmon or chicken. I have already used up the first tub and ordered a second. Highly recommend.

I first had Panang curry at a local Thai fusion place a few years ago and was hooked. I decided to try and make it myself and quickly realized making my own curry paste wasn’t going to happen since I don’t have a good Asian market nearby and some of those ingredients are not available in most grocery stores. So, I checked out a few YouTube chefs and they named this Arroy-D curry paste as a solid choice that tends to be widely available. Full disclosure, I have not tried any others yet, this was my first foray into homemade curry. So I pretty much followed Jet Tila’s recipe off YouTube using this curry paste and it turned out really good. You can raise and lower the spice level depending on the curry paste/coconut milk ratio. I also think that “frying” the curry paste first in a little oil really does make a big difference in opening up all of the flavors. Overall I don’t think you can go wrong with this brand. Although I’m sure there are better options out there, I think this is most likely one of best widely available curry paste brands out there. I also have the red curry paste which I’m looking forward to trying in a week or so.
