Introducing Alice TodHunter Moon, a Magykal addition to the world of Septimus Heap! Perfect for both established fans of the Septimus Heap series and readers coming to the world of Septimus Heap for the first time, PathFinder is the first book in the Septimus Heap spin-off series, TodHunter Moon. Taking place seven years after the events of the original Septimus Heap series, PathFinder tells the story of Alice TodHunter Moon, a young PathFinder who leaves her seaside village in search of her friend Ferdie. Rumor has it that Ferdie has been taken by mysterious creatures called Garmin under orders from the malevolent Lady. Full of Angie Sage's characteristic humor and heart, PathFinder introduces a new cast of young charactersโand a new kind of Magyk. All the beloved characters from Septimus Heap are here, tooโTod receives help from ExtraOrdinary Wizard Septimus Heap, exโExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand, and Alchemist Simon Heap. A great addition to any fantasy reader's library! Review: The next installment in the Septimus Heap series. - I loved this continuation to the Septimus Heap series, which I loved reading and can't wait for the next book to come out. All the usual characters were there, along with a splattering of magic and adventure. The story centres on Alice Todhunter Moon and her discovery that she also has magical ability. Her mother died when she was young and her father is the leader of the Pathfinders who live in a fishing village and preserve the ancient secrets which have been handed down to those who have come of age. Alice's father goes missing on a fishing trip and Alice is left in the care of an eccentric aunt, who doesn't appear to like Alice much, and the feeling is mutual. The aunt is connected to a dark sourcerer who wants to dig up and take an egg that bestows extraordinary magical ability to whosoever possesses it. Alice eventually goes to the castle where she meets Septimus (the ExtraOrdinary Wizard) and with his help and everyone elses, they set off on an adventure to save the egg, help kidnapped villages return to their village, and basically turn the world to rights. Lots more happens but I don't want to spoil it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Review: Sage has done a brilliant job of maintaining the personal traits and characters of ... - Pathfinder is a delightful sequel to the Septimus Heap series. The plot is complex with multiple twists. It introduces strong new young characters while reconnecting with the characters from the previous series. Ms. Sage has done a brilliant job of maintaining the personal traits and characters of her players while allowing them to mature and move on. While her new characters are also a trio of young folks, they are unique and not just a replay of Septimus, Jenna, Nicko, and Beetle. I look forward to hearing more about Tod, Oskie, and Ferdie while keeping up with the antics of the castle folk.

Discovering the past while heading to the future
I have read all the Septimus Heap books. I enjoyed them. I was not sure about this series. Sometimes when an author writes a series that is a continuation of another series that you enjoys, it can go wrong. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I found the beginning interesting. Really disliked the aunt. Could tell there was something seriously wrong with her. Things went bad fairly quickly. I liked how Tod 'Alice' reacted to what happened. She did not set in a corner and whine. She found trouble but she worked to do the right thing. I also enjoyed seeing Septimus all grownup and how he deals with being in charge. He was still my favorite character in the book but Tod was a very close second. I found the world in the book interesting. There were new places to explore. New dangers to deal with and adventures to have. If you have not read the Septimus Heap series you can read it without reading them. This is a new series. That being said, by reading them I had the other books to draw upon when some of the character were there. For me it added another layer. I finished this one in about 3 hours. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this kind of genre or someone who is looking for a good book to read.

Please, Angie Sage, find us more Pathfinder stories! I know you have them๐
How delightful it was to meet the new characters in Book One: PathFinder. They were skillfully developed and artfully woven into a great new net of magykal creatures, complete with a wicked step-mother and missing father. The Ancient Ways, so clever! I liked the progress of the new queen, Septimus and Marcia. The new countryside was a plus as was the introduction to the Snow Princess and her horse. It takes more than an active imagination to create the steadily building tension that drew me through this book. I know all the middle school kids will dive into what I hope will be another Angie Sage series. Me? I am an avid reader and am 68 years young. It's authors like this that help keep me so.

Great
It was lovely seeing what happened to our beloved characters while unraveling a new story. It was very well executed. I loved how it expanded to show more of their magical world too. Highly recommended!

I loved it and can't wait to read more.
I very much enjoyed reading this book. All of the characters were believable and had their own personalities. The world building was also good. And the writing style and the editing were both excellent. I would have liked to see just a tad bit more magyk, but hopefully I'll get that in the next book in the series. I have not read the Magyk series that this series spun off of, but I liked this book enough that I will definitely be purchasing the previous series. And these are books that I would have no problem letting my grandchildren read. Kudos to Angie Sage for a job well done!

An entertaining book
Though this is the first part of a new series, fans of the Septimus Heap series will find many old characters interwoven into the storyline. Septimus Heap features as an Extraordinary Wizard, along with Marcia, Lucy, Simon, Beetle, Nicko and Silas. But the story revolves around Alice TodhunterMoon, a little girl with a unique gift who sets off to rescue her friends and family. Yet another entertaining read from Angie Sage.
