If rabbits can't resist this product, then why is it necessary to use a cabbage or lettuce leaf?...

The idea is to use it as a 'plate' on which to place the bait (and maybe make it look a bit more natural). Even if you do not just have a metal grid like I do (certain traps have platforms for the food which also set off the trap door), using a 'plate' means less need to clean the trap. I have used thin slices of apple instead. the rabbits can and do resist. I've used it for 3 weeks and only trapped 2 rabbits, though I know there are more in the vicinity. So it seems some like it and others prefer my hostas, my marigold flowers, etc.
