Authentic and frighteningly sharp.

This Kiridashi marking knife is amazing. It is exactly what I was looking for at a very reasonable price. It is razor sharp, and I’ve had no issues with the tip breaking like some others have mentioned in their reviews. I’m assuming that the people who broke the tip either twisted it or were pressing insanely hard to break it. But even if the tip does eventually break, if you’re buying this then there’s a 99% chance that you’re a woodworker, so resharpening it shouldn’t be an issue if you have a honing station for your chisels anyway. The only thing that I wish they’d change is the packaging. It just comes in a plastic package with a cardboard backer, with a little plastic sheath over the tip. So I ended up buying a cheap little necklace box from Amazon for like $10, and ripped out the interior of it and replaced it with high density foam cut to the shape of the marking knife to safely store it. I also made a little sheath just to cover the tip in between uses while I’m using it. If you get it, I definitely recommend buying/making some form of storage box for it. The one I found actually worked out great because it kind of matches the Japanese Aesthetic too!

I hated the cheap packaging be EXTREMELY careful when opening, but the knife is AWESOME, having the single bevel limited it’s uses way more than I thought I would. I’ve used this more as a regular knife rather than a marking knife but the craftsmanship is top notch. I have a cheaper set of marking knives that have the double bevel that I end up using more just because of that. But the material and build quality is absolutely excellent. I’m definitely going to have to have a carry case for this knife to be able to use it more frequently, a good problem to have if you asked me.

Very very sharp knife, great for taking off lots of wood on carving. Isn’t a knife for details and I am going to make a handle for it so it fits my larger hands.

I will never use an exacto knife again. This is much better and stronger and can be sharpened to be reused again and again. It’s hard to press hard with a flimsy exacto knife blade, but this is sturdy when pressed firmly on your chosen object.

I like the knife. Steel holds an edge but harsh on the hand to use. Does not come with a case so once you are done using it...where to put it? A case would make it easier to put it in a pocket or a tool belt without having it cut your body or belt.
