Soundtrack - Tangled - desertcart.com Music Review: It's Disney... Alan Meken! Come on! - Alright, it don't just like it because it's yet another soundtrack for an amazing Disney hit. Though that is part of it. I'm a novelist. I listen to sound tracks in the back when I work on my books. Vocal and non-vocal. Both of those on this are amazing. Disney is very good at this. Pixar even more so, check out Finding Nemo's soundtrack for an example. The songs are classic Disney and fun to listen to and sing along to, just like Little Mermaid or Lion King. The instrumental bits are great to. Most of all, Realization and Escape, The Tear Heals, Kingdom Dance, Waiting for the Lights, and Horse without a Rider. Really good soundtrack! I love it. I got it when it was on a special discount of $5. It was before the movie came out and let me tell you. I was ready to give the guy who make that possible a HUGE hug. The music is great for working on my books, inspired a few good scenes. LOVE IT! Review: The best music in a movie ever - When I went to see this movie I thought I would not like the music. All most any movies I seen with music in it I say to my self just get done with the music and go on with the movie. But what this Tangle movie is so very good. The songs just goes with the movie very good. The most songs I like is: 1. When Will My Life Begin? 5. I've Got a Dream 7. I See the Light 14. Kingdom Dance But all the songs are very good but the list I did I like the best. I got one CD by Mandy Moore but her music don't sound as good as this one. I guess Mandy Moore + Disney = super good music. Thank you Disney for this Tangle movie and the songs. It is the best movie I ever seen. I love this moive! -Raymond Day

I've become a Mandy Moore fan!
My daughter absolutely loves this movie and its musical scores, so I had to purchase this for her. Every time we're in the car, she always insists on listening to this, and my wife and I think the music is brilliantly written. I never realized how talented Mandy Moore is, my wife keeps wanting to watch This Is Us with her in it so we have a number of episodes currently on cue on dvr waiting to be viewed, but I digress! All the tracks sound terrific, it captures all the music that accompanied the movie, I don't believe they left any notes off. It starts off the way the movie begins, Rapunzel cleaning and cooking and brushing her hair to "When Will My Life Begin", one of the more upbeat songs in the recent Disney movie catalog in my opinion. From there, we are introduced to Mother Gothel's "Mother Knows Best", a terrific tune sung by Donna Murphy whose vocals fit the role perfectly. One of my daughter's favorites is track 5, "I've Got a Dream" with the fun Snuggly Duckling crew which includes the vocals of Brad Garrett and Jeffrey Tambor. My wife and I personally love "I See the Light" (track 7) which in our opinion easily tops the more popular "Let It Go" from Frozen among Disney songs. In the song, Mandy's singing is terrific to go along with the accompanying instrumentation. And a nice surprise of course is Zachary Levi's singing ability! An unsung (no pun) tune from the movie is the "Healing Incantation", you can really hear Mandy's higher octave vocals and how they register to create the melody. And finally, my daughter's favorite which gets us clapping and dancing along is the final track, "Something That I Want" by Grace Potter, a great tune to close out the movie and soundtrack. So upbeat and brings a smile to your face each listen. All in all, this is one of our favorite soundtracks and scores from any Disney movie. A few of the songs could easily stand on their own outside the Disney realm and deservedly into pop radio.

Great Movie and Music
I took my daughters (ages 14 & 11) to see this movie. I was prepared to be somewhat bored, but was pleasantly surprised to find it engaging. The movie also had a lot of laughs that adults could appreciate, but it wasn't off color for the kids. We all fell in love with the music from the movie, so I bought the CD download. I like that it comes with the digital booklet containing the lyrics to the songs. My 14 year old has chosen two of the songs from the CD to perform at her ballet recital this Spring. In short, we LOVED the music and the movie!

Great voices, catchy songs to sing that are appropriate for lil ones
Bought this for my newborn, I ended up watching this alot just before and after she was born and I never realized how much I love the movie. I've always liked the music but I felt the movie is overlooked and overshadowed for disney's 50th movie! The music is so fun to sing and play in the car for my daughter. The artists singing are great and even the instrumentals are great. I especially love the instrumental track for the town Plaza scene.

Alan Menken's great, but...
Alan Menken's score is great. Really, I mean it. I listen to quite a few scores, and this one is beautiful, although I have a feeling it'll mostly get overlooked, like Zimmer's score for The Lion King. The melody featured in "Healing Incantation" and "Prologue" is just fantastic, and I heard quite a few people humming it as I left the theater. Anyways, despite the vocal songs on this album just... lack something, and I have to place the blame on the lyricist, Glenn Slater. You see, much of the fun from the songs of the Disney Renaissance comes from the clever lyrics. My favorite example is Poor Unfortunate Souls, where Ursula responds to Ariel's worry about losing her voice with "You'll have your looks! Your pretty face! And don't underestimate The importance of ... body language!" Just a few lines later is "Come on, they're not all that impressed with conversation True gentlemen avoid it when they can" which always gives me a chuckle. You get the same thing in other great Disney songs ("This child is getting wildly out of wing", the entirety of Robin Williams' songs in Aladdin), but in Tangled... nah, it's not really there. Ok, sure, "Mother Knows Best" has a line about "men with pointy teeth", and "I've Got a Dream" is pretty decent, but I don't feel like I really get anything more out of it as a 21-year old than I would if I was 10. And that, my friends, is a shame. Despite all my whining and complaining, this album is a worthwhile buy. I got it for half-price ($4), but even at 8 it's great. Buy it, listen to it, enjoy.

Tangled Soundtrack
The Tangled soundtrack is simply brillant. As always, Alan Menken blows us away. From the beautiful "i See the Light" to the bright "When Will My LIfe Begin" to the dark, intense "Mother Knows Best (Reprise)", the songs are simply perfect for the movie. The score is beautiful as well, from the lively "Kingdom Dance" to the melodic "Waiting for the Lights" to the emotionally intense "The Tear Heals." Just so you know, the version of "Mother Knows Best" that is on the CD contains additional lyrics that the movie itself does not contain. I give the Tangled Soundtrack 5 stars, and hope this review helps you make your decision.

If you drive with children...
If you drive with children and those children love the movie Tangled, do yourself a favor as well as protect your sanity by purchasing this soundtrack. It's got the music that your kids love and will likely want to sing along with anyway. Thankfully, with Amazon's AutoRip feature, if you find yourself in a real bind, buy the CD if it's cheaper and then download the MP3's to your phone/iPod and get started with it immediately. Any review of the music itself seems completely irrelevant. Come on, if you have seen the movie you know what the music sounds like. If you have small children in your home/car then the kind of music that YOU like is completely irrelevant as we all know it's much more important to keep the children happy so that you don't have to crash your car to stop the fighting in the back seat! Really, it's very tolerable I find (as an adult). It's not anything I would take to the gym or listen to on a long road trip by myself... but honestly, who would buy Disney stuff for that!?!?
