Easy, No Heat Curls!
I can't believe I waited so long to buy these beauties. These curlers are incredibly easy to use and they give you gorgeous curls that last for days. I have tried every heatless curling method there is -- sleep styler, braiding, boho headband wrapping, and every other tutorial on youtube -- and this is the only one that ACTUALLY works. The set comes in a nice zippered carrying case with seven different sizes of rollers. I only used the two biggest sizes (blue and pink). The first time I tried these, I wrapped them from the bottom like traditional rollers. They're easy to hold in place, once you figure out which way to crimp the ends. (Hint: if you're rolling away from your face, as most of you probably will be, you'll need to bend the edges up into a "U" shape. If you're rolling toward your face, you need to put them the other way with the ends pointing down.) I slept in them and had incredibly bouncy, Shirley Temple style curls. I actually spent some time pulling on them to get the curls to straighten out - they were way too sproingy for a woman in her thirties, ha! The second time I adjusted my rolling technique because I wanted looser curls. After a nighttime shower, with wet hair, I held the roller against my head and wrapped the hair around the barrel away from my face. This technique meant that the ends of my hair were sticking out a little, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The curls looked much more natural. (When I curled them the first time and the ends were fully curled, it looked a little crazy.) I pulled the curlers out in the morning and I had gorgeous, loose curls that looked like I did them with a curling iron (it was the same look I get from spending 30 minutes with my 1" curling iron). I nearly wept with joy. No more heat styling for me!! They're not exactly the most comfortable thing to sleep in, but if you get the placement right (cluster them around your ears and on top of your head, leaving the back of your head bare) you'll be ok with a squishy pillow. For the record, I had no issues sleeping with them, but I'm a back sleeper. I think these are incredibly easy to use and you should have no problem with them, even if you're a hair styling neophyte. That being said, while I'm not a professional hairstylist, I know my way around a curling iron and am pretty good at making my hair look how I want using styling tools. I'm just lazy and don't want to spend an hour doing my hair every morning. The photos are me with sproingy curls pulled out a bit, then two days later (!), then the final, looser curls that I'm so in love with.

Great starter set, easy to use, creates great curl give me good height at the roots.
I have been looking at these on and off for years thinking they could not possibly give me the curl I want in my type 1A hair, and they would be too hard to use or would not stay in my hair long enough to curl it. I was wrong and wrong! It takes some practice to develop your skills and get the level of curl you want. By my 3rd time I have a routine and the rolling time down to 30 minutes. I think I can get it down to 20 minutes. If you like big curls and have more coarse hair you can roll larger sections on the larger size rods and your rolling time would be maybe 10 or 15 minutes. My goals: Curl that lasts for days in my home climate which is low humidity. Curl that at least lasts the day and evening when I travel to humid climates, which is often. I grew up in a humid climate and have always thought my hair just won't hold any curl. It definitely will hold curl--for days if I'm in a dryer climate. Even in humid climate I just need the right recipe of products and the right type of curl. I've tried several of the no heat options that you sleep in. They work OK but if they come loose while sleeping it ruins the look I'm trying to achieve so I've kept looking and have finally tried flexi rods. These are not comfortable for sleeping--not specific to this brand but any flexi rod is going to be a big no for overnight use. Too bulky and some will get pulled out and ruin your hairdo. However, I've developed a process that only requires a short interval of blow dryer heat and gives me beautiful lasting curls. The whole thing takes about an hour, but half of that time is just walking around the house with these rods in my hair so it's actually the greatest and longest lasting hairdo for the least time invested that I've ever found, and using a very tame hot air for only a few minutes. This great little set has 7 different sizes of flexi rods, which is why I say it's a great starter set and at a great price. There might be some who could use all of the sizes in this package and get the look they desire. For me this set helped me find the ideal rod size for most of my head of hair and gives me the ability to utilize a few of another size for areas where I need that like new growth around my face and neck. I personally don't need to use the blue or the pink in this set because they're too fat for my hair type and desired level of curl but those would be great for someone who wants big waves and/or has a different hair type. I have to start out on day 1 with tighter curl than I expect to have on days two and three (and sometimes day 4!) because my hair is very straight and very fine. I have a lot of it and it is about bra strap length when straight with some long loose layers. I've developed a recipe and process that works great for me. You always want to start with clean hair that is fully detangled and about 85% dry. After I wash and condition in the shower, I comb through and then use a good leave-in conditioner on the bottom 1/3 of the length to protect the ends and keep that very vulnerable part of my hair healthy. Then I use my favorite mousse on my whole head of hair including the roots and blow dry my hair, concentrating on making sure my roots are dry and leaving the length about 85% dry--to me that's slightly damp to the touch but it looks dry if you don't touch it. The only other product I use is Kenra 19 heat protectant spray. I spray it on each strand, smooth it will a comb, and then roll just like if I was using my curling wand. This is an excellent heat protector but also adds hold and offers really good humidity resistance. When I'm traveling to a humid climate I switch to Kenra Hot Spray 20 which is basically the same product with stronger hold. Heat protectant is not the same as a leave-in conditioner. Those should never be combo products. Leave-in conditioner only goes on wet hair and does nothing to protect from humidity or hot tools. Heat protectant should be applied to dry or mostly dry hair or it won't protect your hair from heat damage. Its role is to create a barrier. Kenra is GREAT for this and the reason I use it in this process is two-fold. It provides hold as I mentioned. Also, if I use my curling want to touch up a curl or to add back a few strategic curls on day 2, Kenra is still there doing the job. AND it doesn't make my hair sticky, or leave build up on my curling rods or my heat tools or my bathroom floor. Truly great stuff and really extends my curl for days. I have found that the yellow and orange rods from this set are the best size for most of my hair. However, there are not enough of those do my whole head. So I took one with me and found a very similar size in a pack of 12 at TJX. Many places have those. I use a few of the smaller red and purple rods from this set around my face and neck where the hair is even more fine than the rest of my hair and/or shorter. The bigger the rod and the bigger the section of hair you wrap around it, the looser the curl will be. Small sections of hair and smaller rods create tighter curls. I need tighter curls because they will "fall" and become looser curls that look beautiful and evolve over the course of days. On days 2, 3 and sometimes four I spend no more than 5 minutes on my hair. I start by rolling the "mohawk" section of my hair first. That is a section about 2.5 to 3 inches wide from front to crown. I do this because I have a perfect natural center part in my hair and I don't like the way my hair looks parted down the middle. By creating a section of about an inch and half of the hair directly to either side of my center part and then dividing it horizontally into three sections that I roll away from my face, I wind up with no center part. Instead I can choose to wear it parted on the left or the right or just kind of tousled and it looks good. Once I put those three rods in the center top front of my hair I can continue that row down the center back of my head, leaving a big dividing line between the left side and right side of my hair. I find this helps me roll the rest of my hair more easily. After my whole head is rolled a use the dryer bonnet that I bought on Amazon for about $15. I only wear it for about 10 minutes with dryer on low heat. It really helps if you use a decent quality blow dryer that utilizes ions and/or nano technology to dry your hair. They dry your hair faster with less heat. After about 10 minutes I take the bonnet off and let my hair cool completely before I take the rods out. Usually about a half hour. During that time I do my makeup, eat, get dressed, whatever. if you don't want to use the bonnet you can just use the air flow concentrator nozzle on your blowdryer and go around your whole head being sure you dry each rod thoroughly. I would be about the same amount of time. Depending on your hair type and texture and how big your sections, you could try high heat/low speed. Keep in mind that bigger sections of hair will take longer or need more heat to dry thoroughly so adjust accordingly. Then let your hair cool completely as I described. The longer they can stay in, the better your curl. When you take them out you need unroll each rod just the opposite motion of when you rolled it. Don't pull them out. The most important reason is because each rod, no matter what rods you buy, has a plastic cap on each end that anchors and secures the wire inside the rod that makes it bendable. It isn't a design flaw; it's the design. Otherwise you couldn't bend the rod around your curl. It would just bounce back and unroll. Hair can get caught between the end of the rod and the little cap when you're rolling and if you just pull the rods out you'll break and damage your hair, or pull it out by the root. As you unroll each rod you'll be able to feel if there are hairs caught and all you have to do is pinch the flexi rod at the end which will pull the rubber away from the cap and release the hairs that got caught. When you're rolling, don't start the rod at the end of your hair. How far up from the end you start it depends on the layers in your hair. The goal is to get the ends of your hair neatly wrapped around the rod before you try to roll the rest of the way up. If you don't do this you'll be fighting your ends constantly and it will make this take a long time. There are good videos out there to show you what this looks like. The best way is to put the rod up against the section about 2 or so inches from the end. If you start higher up your curl pattern will be way off and you'll have a big weird bend in the middle of each curl instead of a bouncy twirl from root to end. Once you get the end wrapped around, roll the rod the rest of the way to your scalp trying not to overlap your hair on itself. The entire length of your hair should sit directly on the rod. You don't want to roll all of your hair around the center of the rod like you would do with a roller. Your rods should be long enough to accommodate the length of your hair without overlapping the hair as you wind it around. You should roll your hair away from your face. Roll all the way to the root making it comfortably tight. Bend the ends of the rod around the front of the curl. You're rolling the hair away from your face and bending the rod ends toward your face. This keeps the rod from unrolling and leaving the top couple of inches of your hair straight and flat. It's one of the things I love about this method. I get more height and texture in the top of my hair than anything else I've ever used because I can curl it really close to my scalp and bend the rod to hold it up there nice and tight. When I first take it down it's pretty curly. I don't comb or brush my hair on the first day. After I take the rods out I use just my fingers. I pull my curls apart and use the rat tail end of my comb to pick out any section marks up at the root but I do not comb or brush. That's my process for getting curl to last for days. You'll find what creates the look you like. The photos show my hair fully rolled, what it looks like when I finish taking out the rods, what it looks like after I pull my curls apart and use my fingers to get my starting style, then the front and back of my hair at the end of day 1 when I get home from work. I use about 26 rods total on about 1 to 1.5 inch wide sections of hair. The pink rods you see are not the pink from this set. They are the ones I bought to match the size of the yellow and orange rods in this set. I sleep with my hair in a twisted bun to preserve my curls overnight and I shower in a 3 layer cap with my hair still in the bun to keep moisture from getting to my hair. I bought that cap on Amazon for a great price and I love it. 1 and 2 layer caps don't work. This process turns my curls into big bouncy waves after the first day. Overall I highly recommend this set of rods. Great value, they seem like they're going to be durable, the color doesn't bleed into my hair, they're easy to pack for travel. My mid back length hair fits around these rods with room to bend the ends. The pink ones I bought separately are longer which is fine but wasn't a requirement for me.

Perfect Ringlets! (If you're willing to sacrifice a good night's sleep)
Pros: -Super easy to use, although definitely look up a Youtube tutorial on the specifics of putting them in because you can do it wrong and end up with weirdly bent hair instead of ringlets. - Curls lasted awhile, which was impressive because my hair hates holding a curl (I wore the look to work and I would say my hair was curly for about half the work day---normally curls from an iron don't last more than 10 minutes for me) - They make perfect, glossy ringlet curls that you would expect from a curling wand! - Fast to put in + take back out (maybe 20 minutes combined) - There are plenty of curlers in this package, even if you have tons of hair you won't run out - They are secure and will stay in all night even if you're like me and toss and turn a lot - I've had problems with other curlers getting caught on my hair and ripping it, these haven't done that, but you do have to remove them carefully Cons: - Very uncomfortable to sleep on. I am able to sleep with them in but it's definitely not a great night's sleep. When I put these in my aunt's hair she didn't make it half an hour trying to sleep on them before taking them out. - All the different sizes are a bit annoying since the inconsistency of the curl sizes when you take the rollers out makes the finished look messy and not really polished (I was hoping for something sleek and professional to wear to work, this wasn't quite it) - If you put these in your hair wet, your hair will never dry. I would recommend running a brush under some water to get your hair just barely damp before putting in the curlers, but definitely don't use these if your hair isn't 95% dry already. Overall I really enjoy using these.

Kind of amazing!
I have long layered hair that has just a touch of wave. I can't let it dry and go because it isn't wavy enough so it just looks messy. I am trying to stop using heated styling tools but still need something to help me get some waves in my hair when I wear it wavy. I saw these and figured I would give them a try, not expecting much from them. When these rods arrived, I was amazed at how many there were. Many sizes for all kinds of waves and very simple to use. The first time I tried them, I just tossed in some rods any old way, not even looking into a mirror. I waited for a couple of hours and removed the rods. To my surprise, I had a head full of soft, full waves! I couldn't believe it. The waves stayed in my hair all day and into the next too. I did this on dry hair. I never use these on wet hair. I spray my hair with hairspray or finishing spray before I remove the rods which definitely helps lock in the waves and curls. I now pay more attention to which size rods I use but I really don't put a ton of effort into using them. I just wind my hair up and bend the ends to close the rod and wait a couple of hours. I could sleep in these but I haven't needed to go that long to get my desired results. They are comfortable on my head, not heavy, and don't damage my hair in any way. They easily untwist and return their usual long form. I haven't had a single issue with any of the rods breaking or bending and not going back to being straight. It's amazing that I can get the results I do without heat and without a ton of effort. I am very pleased with these rods. I have tried so many other ways to get my hair to wave and curl and none worked as well, not even heated rollers and curling irons. For me, these are just what I need and I am so glad I don't have to worry about damaging my hair. The only tiny downside is that I have to wait a few hours to get the results rather than get them quickly like with heated products but it is so worth the tradeoff.

Gets the job done but could use improvement
My first no heat rollers was Conair's Spiral Rollers. I have a lot of hair and needed more so instead of buying just another 18 pack locally I decided to try these out. 42 come with this order, with various different rod sizes/thicknesses, which is good if you're trying to achieve a natural curled look imo. - Is supposedly made by a small family-owned business. With the recent state of things (COVID-19) I have been making it more of a point to support local businesses and products made in the US, as long as they live up to my expectations. Pro's: - I like that you receive so many of these. I still have to use my Conair ones that I originally bought locally, however combined with also using these I barely have enough rollers to curl my hair. - These are shorter than the ones made by Conair, which is good because they don't need to be so long. I feel these are a decent length. - These give you a lot of bang for your buck. You get so many of these and they're ok enough for my purposes, as long as I use the Conair ones for my front curls and these for everything else. - I like that there are so many colors and sizes. The color-coordinated sizes make it easy to tell which one is right for the job. I like that there are so many different sizes/thicknesses (girth). This helps achieve a more natural look. Con's: - Unfortunately, these are more flimsy than the ones made by Conair. I honestly prefer the ones made by Conair however I would need to buy so many of them that I'm okay with using the Conair ones for my front curls and then use these ones for all of my other curls. When I say that they're flimsy I mean that they just don't curl my hair as well as the ones made by Conair. Overall, I'm only writing this review because I received an email stating that this company is a small family-owned business. In light of recent events I have been making it a point to support local businesses and products made in the US. Because of this, I can honestly recommend these. The ones made by Conair are better, however these do indeed get the job done and if you have a lot of hair (like myself) these are fine when used along with the ones made by Conair.

PERFECT curlers for my very fine and very straight hair -- love these curlers !!!
I purchased these curlers not really thinking they would probably do much for my VERY fine and straight hair. I've tried everything and just wanted something to keep my hair from looking so flat. I am in my sixties and have always had very fine and straight hair, but it is even more fine (if that is possible) as I get older. Sometimes people gray and end up with a texture that is coarse as it grays. That didn't happen for me. I used to get perms just to have curl, but that is now too harsh for my hair and gives me breakage that I don't need. Anyway, I have been completely and pleasantly surprised by these curlers. My hair is about shoulder blade length with some longer layers in it. I just dampened each lock of hair with my fingers before wrapping in the curler and twisting/bending to hold. My hair is so fine that I wondered if the curlers would even stay in. They did, and the results were unbelievable!! I thought the curlers would have to be in FOREVER to curl my hair, but I only had an hour and a half to spare when I tried them. I unwrapped them and saw right away that I had really curly curls!! I lightly sprayed and worked my fingers and hair pick through to style as I wanted. I was soooooo PLEASED!!! I can curl my hair with hot rollers with success, but these curls are even better and without the damaging heat. I don't know if these will work for everyone, but I do know that I have the most impossible sort of hair to curl -- my hairdressers in life have always pointed out that my texture is the worst. These curlers work for me, and I love the results!! You get plenty of curlers in different sizes, which is fantastic. These curlers are definitely worth trying!!

Wonderful Rollers, Perfect Waves!
These hair rollers are everything I need! They are staple to have....and here are the many reason why: (1) there are many of them that comes in a set; (2) they come in different sizes - which is very necessary; (3) they conveniently come in their own case; (4) their flexibility and simplicity to curl and hold the hair allows for precise styling; (5) their design makes them easy to travel around with.... even just carrying a few in my purse is not awkward; (6) the fact that they're colorful is just a personal bonus to me - although it may not be a preference for others; (7) I used these on my natural hair as well as a wig and I found that with the air-drying that I did for both occasions, the rollers dried the hair well; (8) the curl - or rather waves I created - formed beautifully and held nicely! I used mouse to roll an then waited a couple hours for the hair to drop a bit. The wave were still deep and luscious. I went on to spray a little hair spray so I'm not sure how long they would've stayed put without it but my focus was on the unrolled results; (9) they are easy to clean. One of them fell in a pool of cleaning products and soaked up some of the chemicals. I was concerned that a smell / residue would remain after cleaning it, but there wasn't any [thank godness]; and (10) they are reasonably priced. Needless to say, I'm quite happy with these rollers.
