TetraMin Nutritionally Balanced Tropical Flake Food for Tropical Fish, 0.42 oz

This food is very good quality. This container of 4.52 pounds is an extremely large amount of fish food. And it's a great value for the money. I am on my 2nd one now. I give it to all my fish. It is colorful. All the fish like it. It smells like fish food. My guppies, mollies, platy, goldfish, grouramis, cichlids, and even the catfish all eat it. I give them some other food every once in awhile too, but this is mostly what they eat. I have never had a single problem from it. It doesn't cloudy up my water unless I really over do it. I think they like the way that it tastes. My fish prefer this over other brands I have tried before. This is enough food to last most fish owners several years. I refill smaller containers with the large container every once in awhile so it will stay fresh. I am careful not to crush it.

Can't find this product in my local stores anymore for some reason. I do live in the middle of nowhere however. Had to buy this larger size of container but that's okay. It's a good product. Good price for the size.

I’ve tried a lot of fish foods over the years, and this one is definitely high quality. The first thing I noticed was how fresh it looked and smelled (not overly fishy or stale like some brands). My fish responded immediately at feeding time — strong color, active swimming, and no hesitation eating it once it was in the tank. Water clarity has also stayed consistent, which tells me it’s not full of fillers that break down and cloud things up. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is the flake size. The flakes are very large — much bigger than standard flake food. For medium or smaller fish, you absolutely have to crush it between your fingers before feeding. It’s not a huge deal, but it does add an extra step and can be a little messy if you’re in a hurry. That said, once crushed, my fish eat it eagerly and seem to do great on it. If you have larger fish, this might actually be a bonus for you. For smaller community tanks, just plan on breaking it up first. Overall: excellent ingredients, fish love it, just oversized flakes. Would buy again — and would definitely give five stars if the flake size were more practical.

If I say “this tastes DELICIOUS” is the HHS Secretary going to hunt me down for violating the now upside down food pyramid by ingesting fish food? I’m devoted to my fish's health, but I am definitely refusing to adhere to the review “idea” of taste and NOT “sampling their dinner” level of devoted. So I’ll have to rely on the expert panel: two tetras who eat this stuff like they are being paid by the flake. Verdict from the tank jury? They lose their tiny minds for this stuff. The second the lid opens it’s like I rang the dinner bell at an underwater rodeo. Fins start wiggling, bubbles fly, and my normally chill Tetras turn into a competitive eaters named Fish One and Fish Two. If tropical fish enthusiasm for dinner equals flavor, this stuff must taste like tiny floating cheeseburgers. Next review idea is “health.” Ok, I think I can manage that check and change to green font. Since switching to TetraMin, the silver scales on my Tetras look brighter and shine like they are auditioning for a Vegas sign—and they’ve got so much energy they’re doing laps like aquatic CrossFit enthusiasts. Even the aquatic plants seem more optimistic. So, synapsis of “health” is their scales look more shiny equals healthy, then sure. Healthy stuff. Next review “idea” is “durability.” Ok, no more following the ideas after this, since I do not want to touch “smell” with a 10 foot fish net, thank you very much. Hmm. Ok, I got durability covered at least! How about these flakes are tougher than they look? They hold together long enough for the fish to actually eat them instead of instantly dissolving into sad aquarium dust. I can sprinkle them in, answer a text, come back, and they’re still respectable flakes, not murky fish oatmeal. Oh, and the container itself is sturdy too; I’ve dropped it twice and it survived like a champ. From my perspective, the flakes float nicely, don’t turn the water into swamp soup, do not cause foul smells (oops, said I was leaving smells out of this) and apparently taste amazing—based solely on the fact the two fish have yet to file a formal complaint. Official scoring: • Taste (according to the fish rave parties): 5 of 5 stars •. Durability (flake integrity + clumsy-owner proof): 5 of 5 stars • Smell: uh, sure. It smells like fishy seaweed, which apparently Tretras think is perfectly splendid. Five stars from me, and what I assume would be five enthusiastic fins-up from the aquatic review crew. 🐠

Good quality fish food, worth the 100$ I spent for years of fish food!

Great tropical fish food. You save a lot in buying bulk. Tetramin Staple fish food have been around for a very long time and they are known for their quality products. When I was a boy, over 50 years ago, that was what my father was feeding his fish with. You can't go wrong with them and your fish will stay healthy and in perfect shape.

The fish seem to like it.

I bought this because the label says its for top and mid feeders and my fish are mostly at the higher parts of my tanks. When I put this in my tanks it just goes straight to the bottom which is not what i wanted. I can't return this due to amazon return policies.
