This headband is a revolutionary tool when it comes to meditation and I highly recommend it!!
The Flowtime Biosensing Meditation Headband is a groundbreaking device designed to enhance your meditation practice by providing real-time feedback on your brain activity and physiological states. Combining advanced biosensing technology with user-friendly features, this headband is a valuable tool for anyone looking to deepen their mindfulness and meditation experience. This super cool headband tracks my brainwave activity across multiple states, including Alpha, Beta, Theta, and Gamma waves. It also monitors my heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), stress levels, and relaxation. This comprehensive feedback allows me to understand how my brain and my body respond during meditation. I also set it up so that I can receive minute-by-minute updates on my performance, helping me identify when I enter meditative state and the period in which I am most focused. This level of insight is extremely beneficial to me for tracking progress and refining my meditation techniques over time. With this headband and app I also have the ability to compare my current performance with my last seven sessions, so this adds a layer of accountability and motivation. Not only does this hold me accountable, but allows me to see tangible improvements, making it easier for me to stay engaged with my meditation practice. The headband is lightweight and easy to wear. Its compact design makes it simple to take along anywhere, whether I am at home, traveling, or attending a meditation retreat. The headband connects seamlessly via Bluetooth to the companion app, which is available for free on both the App Store and Google Play. This connection enables easy data transfer and access to my meditation stats. Once fully charged, the headband provides about 8 hours of active meditation use. This headband is a revolutionary tool when it comes to meditation and I highly recommend it!!

Grim violation of privacy and potentially dangerous for long meditation due to extra EMF
A product you pay hundreds of dollars to do some tasks, but the company wants to harvest your data constantly to be able to use it. In addition, during meditation one should minimize EMF, but this devices forces user to pollute the space with extra EMF. Here are the major issues at the time of this writing: 1. This device/app won't work offline at all! They want to constantly and continuously upload our private data to allow to use their app. 2. If you don't have internet access for any reason, or if you want to madidate at a quiet location or park or somewhere with no internet then it cannot be used. 3. If you are meditating for a long duration and lose access to internet for any reason in the middle of meditation, then it is of no use. 4. Many people while meditating want to avoid having too many EMF or Radio signals and this device works in contrary: a) it needs Bluetooth to be able to connect to phone b) it further wants Wi-Fi constantly and continuously connected to internet so that it can upload the data continuously. That means it is constantly polluting the meditation space with unwanted EMF. 5. Such continuous presence of unwanted EMF signals close to us during meditation can interfere with our body and brain health. So, in conclusion, for real users who want to pay attention to health and safety and personal data privacy this device is not ideal. It might be fine to use this device sparingly for short duration to learn or to gain an idea, but long-term use might not be ideal. Though everyone has their own perspectives, but for anyone who has researched enough on dangers of continuous EMF pollution, this device is not appropriate for its intended use. Now, what type of device might be ideal for this task? Ideally, the device should minimize or should have the options to minimize the EMF noise and it should be able to work fully offline with following properties: 1. must be able to work completely offline. 2. must be able to record the waves during meditation without requiring connection to phone/internet. 3. the recorded waves then should allow to be analyzed from PC or phone at a later time. 4. if it doesn't have the feature to record on its own, then it MUST provide wired connection to PC or phone to minimize the EMF noise (note that the wired connection will have significantly lower EMF pollution than wireless or Bluetooth) 6. the device it pairs with such as PC/phone must not require internet connection for it to work to reduce EMF noise. 7. it must not upload the private brain data to its servers unless the company wants to buy data from users with users' permission. Unfortunately, not many people are aware of the EMF pollution and its dangers or will be misled by big companies to ignore it. It also seems there is no suitable device for long duration meditations in the current market, as most of them do use wireless and Bluetooth which directly contradict the purpose of meditation (to be quiet, calm, reduce all types of noise and pollutions, and radio interferences).

May indeed help monitor brain wave states and provides a nice series of meditation programs
i’ve had mine for a couple of years. It works pretty well however it loses connectivity usually once a session, however, I find that the bio feedback sound and the analysis of the state of flow to be interesting and perhaps reinforces my meditation process. and gives me a good indication of my state of relaxation… I did a small amount of research regarding the EMF and it is similar if not lower than earbuds which can be worn potentially for a longer period of time and watches that can be worn even longer. I am fairly comfortable with the amount of EMF absorption with the intermittent use of this device for myself and after two years, have not noticed any adverse effects. Furthermore, if my data is anonymous, then I really don’t care if it’s being gathered. however, I think the subscription service could be provided at a lower cost for participating users. Which I think flow time is trying to mitigate with their product review process.

The perfect meditation tool backed by an outstanding support team!
Above and beyond customer service! I use this for both android phone and ipad and they work well. I had an issue with the android app, but when I contacted customer service via the app I got an immediate response and an updated version of the app (I'm assuming in beta) that works flawlessly! The apple app had a slight issue when I would try to delete an older session. Once I mentioned the concern to the support team they immediately went to work on it. Two days later they alerted me that the app was updated and uploaded to the apple app store. This product and app is fairly new I'm sure, but it does everything as described, which provides more functions and value to the user than their more expensive competitors. With my experience with the customer service, I have no doubts that the app will get better and better (more awesome than it already is). The project is certainly far from dead with amazing people who are grateful for and productive with the issues and concerns received from their customers. I will continue to support this product and their team as they are more than willing to receive customer feedback, implement solutions, and further the development of the app. As for the experience using the product, I am very satisfied and amazed at the ability to monitor what goes on in the brain, stress levels, heart rate, etc. Some of the voice recording performances can be improved (you can hear scratching & stomach growling, especially when "aware" lol). Some of them feel more like lectures than a guided meditation guide, but the ones that guide you are very effective in accomplishing your goal for the session. The option to use the unguided & timed mediation is worth it alone as you can use recorded guided meditation media from anywhere on the internet or any that are saved on your phone. It is also a good way to meditate in silence if that is the route you want to take. To sum it all up, the device and app works and does what it says it will do. The app is fun to use and will amaze or surprise you with the well detailed feedback you receive from your meditation session. It's a perfect tool for medtation training. For the price, don't think it over, bring your awareness to your breath, and add it to your cart.

Great Device/Horrible Connectivity
This device educated me a lot, telling me vital things about my own brain activity during meditation. Since my Crown Chakra made itself known to me, I've been completely aware of a lot of my own brain activity simply through feel. I needed to know what was going on. There is a Flow measure, as well as one for Coherence. You can assign a tone for one, alerting you when you have achieved either, but not at the same time. The tone I assigned for Coherence never worked but the one for Flow always did. Thanks to this device, I know what processes are taking place that put me in the Flow State, meaning I can do it consciously any time wish. Which is amazing. The battery life is strong but once it gave out, the app falsely registered 100%, so I was unable to trust that. The app itself could easily be mistaken for another Android app called "Flowtime," so be careful in the app store. The 3 included headbands were quite handy and I swiftly found one that allowed a perfect fit. Seeing firsthand what I was doing to reach high gamma levels was magnificent. At one point, I hit 50% in a 30 minute session. Many people will not understand what I'm saying here, but advanced meditators may reach a point wherein the Crown Chakra becomes obviously active and with much, much practice, you can control what your brainwaves are doing to a certain extent. I would always initiate specific processes (it's kind of like relaxing or flexing a muscle) without knowing what was going on up there. This machine allowed me to understand what things of my own initiative were inducing Flow, high Gamma levels, Coherence, and so on. I cannot say how much I appreciate this little gadget. So, why the mediocre stars? Because none of that matters if the thing doesn't work. Over and over again, I had to restart a session because of lost connectivity. It was constant and I could rely on it failing at least 4 times before I could feel confident enough to proceed with a session. And oftentimes when it was connected, the vitally important statistics charts would not generate, forcing me to try again for that separate reason. Every single session began with probably 6 failures and in the end, I just returned it for a full refund. As much as I enjoyed the device, it's heinous connectivity issues were not worth the $200. I have a $25 outdoor solar powered Bluetooth speaker that connects powerfully when I don't even want it to. I can't tell you for the life of me why this company couldn't provide a stronger hold. It was that bad. Yes, so bad that I returned a device that I otherwise really wanted to keep. It just offered too many problems for $200. A.

Sleek design, cool gadget for some extra accountability
I have been meditating on and off for the past year, always finding it difficult to hold myself accountable for a good sitting (especially during lockdown), so I thought I'd give myself a bit of extra motivation with this gadget. The app coming with it gives you pretty detailed records of your sitting time, heart rate and brain waves (might be even a tad too much for people who are not data nerds). It really helps that they interpret the metrics for you in terms of anxiety, focus etc., so overall very user-friendly and easy to track your progress with. Also a big plus for the sleek data visualization. They seem to want to be another one of those guided meditation apps, but it also comes with an unguided mode that works very well with my headspace app so no worries if you already have a meditation app / group. I think they could do a better job breaking down their algorithms behind those biometrics for me. Right now the documentation seems very scientific but needs a bit more love on the editorial side. Also I think a guide audio / video could really help people "find their calm" with the product itself given its relatively novel idea. Overall, a very cool gadget if you are up to leverage some data based track-record to really motivate you towards that self-care and mindfulness. Also their customer service responded to my initial concerns / confusions very promptly, so another plus there.

Battery Issue?
The headband is very lightweight. The data appears to be consistent. Here's why I'm dinging stars: - App (iOS) requires either 2-factor authentication with Apple or to sign in with a Facebook/Google account. This means that if there are issues with any of your accounts, your Flowtime account will also be locked. I would have much preferred a separate account that is system-agnostic and I could port between devices (and not require Facebook involvement). - Battery life is not 8 hours. I meditate for 10-15 minutes a day. I lose an hour of battery life with every session. - The app needs some more work. I do not use the provided meditations; that isn't why I bought the headband, I just want the tracking. I do both guided and unguided meditations, which have different brain wave profiles. There is no way (that I can find) to add notes to the session to indicate what type of meditation I was doing and no way to separate them in the charts. I've resorted to creating a table and pivot chart in Excel to see trends between the meditation types. - There is a quick start guide that comes with the device and there is some troubleshooting available in the app. But general Google searches to find more information (like resolving the battery issue) are coming up empty. The product has a lot of sales videos, but not much documentation to support it once it's in your hands. - The bands could be larger - I have a pretty small noggin and still had to use the medium band; I don't think the large band will be large enough for some people. - The headband pinches and pulls my hair exclusively on the right side, which makes me question the construction. It's definitely a neat little device and I'm not sorry that I bought it; I just hope the developers take it further.

Did not work for me. Graduate Students: Do not buy
I am in a Graduate program which focuses on Transpersonal Psychology. I thought this would be a useful product for measuring, in real time, the efficaciousness of meditation and mindfullness. I wanted to document myself and others using this tech and meditation -- showing how meditation improves heart and brain wave coherence. I was also curious about my own meditation practices. The product fit well. It connected to the app fine. The sensors checked out fine. However, no matter what I tried the real-time biosensing data would not load. I trouble shooted everything I could -- found on Flowtime's app and website. I connected it to multiple smart phones to see if my phone was the issue. I tried it on multiple people in my household. Finally, I reached out to Flowtime, and I seriously have to wonder if I was talking to an intelligent AI. After explaining my issue and that I had tried "everything", the rep asked I tried the multiple trouble shooting tips. I responded, "I have tried them all." I listed what I had tried. The rep asked me if I tried several of the things I had listed. I re-iterated that I had tried everything. The rep asked if the headband had a plastic band or shield on the sensors, I said no. The rep suggested I try a few things I had already tried. Flowtime said they would send me a new one. At that point, I decided to return the item to Amazon. As I was returning it, I would not qualify for Flowtime sending me a replacement. That is okay. What really gets my goat is that Flowtime said it was Amazon's fault that the headband did not work. They claimed that as it had no plastic band across the sensors that Amazon sent me an item that was used and returned by a previous customer. My item was new in the box. It had never been opened. I have received used / refurbished items in the past without issue. This was not that. This was a new item that was missed Quality Control from Flowtime, itself. They did not mention this UNTIL AFTER I had initiated return. I am glad that this has worked for so many people, but this product did not work for me. Flowtime's CSR was like a robot, as well as dishonest. I am the person in these reviews that had that awful experience no one wants to have. I hope it works for you. But if it does not, well, remember this review.
