Great bowl maker with a learning curve
I love this product. It is simple and easy to use. Plug it in and it is on and unplug to turn off. Yes it has a short cord as it should because you want it on the counter. There is a bit of a learning curve in using this and not difficult. I use a nylon basting brush to lightly coat the top and bottom of the bowl maker with avocado oil while it is unplugged. Once it was oiled I closed it and plugged it in then waited until the unit heated. The green light on my unit turns amber and actually does not turn green. I used the nylon brush and coated both sides of the tortilla's with avocado oil. Once I had them oiled I put them in the bowl maker using my hand pushed it down to help get it started. I suggest using a dish towel, oven mitts, or in my case ove gloves to open and close the hot unit. The instructions say to wait about 3-4 minutes. This is the learning curve. I watch for the steam to stop coming from the unit and check to see if it is browned enough. I will then close the lid again to ensure the water has been baked off from the tortillas. The tortilla's come out very crispy. The bowls do have to cool completely for them to crisp. The first time the tortilla bowls were a bit chewy and not crispy. The second time I used more oil and left them longer. They came out crispier. The third time I left them until no more steam, opened and closed the lid to ensure all the water cooked off, then waited for the bowls to cool completely. Success. I am very happy with this purchase. I have not tried using the 10 inch tortillas because not sure it it will fit or not. I will update if I decide to try the larger tortilla. If you have some patience and are willing to "suffer" the learning curve you will be happy with the results. I would not let children help using this because the bowl maker gets extremely hot and the risk of burn is high. It is a non-stick and the size is perfect for 8 inch tortillas. There is no on/off button, gets extremely hot, and using protection for your hands is a must when opening and closing. I still would purchase again because it does not take very long to make and the success I have had is fantastic.

Definitely worth considering!
I'll be honest with you—I only bought this appliance because it was on sale. I already had a set of metal tortilla bowl makers that are used in an oven, and they work fine. To my surprise, this Nostalgia Taco Bowl maker also works well, and may be even easier. I would suggest that you spray both sides of the tortilla with cooking oil—or spreading butter on both sides—before putting it in the unit. Using a deep fryer may be the best way to make a taco bowl, but you need a deep fryer, and it may add calories to the dish. So— For a fast and easy way to make a tortilla taco bowl, this appliance is all you really need. Would I buy it at the regular retail price? Probably not. But either way, I doubt you will be disappointed. A taco salad really is fun to eat!

Easy, convenient, and humorous
For the cost, it’s a great product. I wanted to have a tortilla press because I eat alot of ground venison, bison, and beef very frequently in different forms for easy and lazy meal prepping. This grill saves me dishes and adds the benefit of a nice crunchy tortilla bowl for additional easy carbs. Feeling a breakfast bowl? Sure, scramble some eggs throw some vegetables in it and bam you have a super easy nutritious meal. The versatility of this product is only limited by your imagination. Throw whatever vaguely South American spices in a pan over some ground meat and throw it in one of the tortilla shells that took two minutes to make with some cheese, Greek yoghurt, and vegetables and you’ll feel like your having taco Tuesday. I enjoy the product, but I suspect the hinges may not last forever. You pay for what you get as far as the manufacturing build quality goes, but it’s inexpensive and good enough to probably last for years as long as you take care of it. I think this product would make for a great gift for the lazy cook in your life who doesn’t enjoy meal planning or wants low effort consistency to track their macros with.

Taco salad for dinner!!!!!
So cool. Taco salad for dinner! Uses 8 inch (soft taco size) tortillas. The 10 inch are too big. But 8 works great

Small taco salads. Child size.
Took forever to heat up. Green light never lit up even after 10 minutes. It’s too small for a Taco bowl unless you eat two of them.

Taco bowl maker
A fun little gadget that actually delivers. It turns plain tortillas into perfectly crisp bowls in just a couple minutes, and the nonstick plates make cleanup effortless. Great for taco salads, dips, desserts—basically anything you want to make cuter and crunchier. Simple, fast, and way more useful than it looks. Nostalgia

You get what yiu pay for.
First time use and the lid wont lock into place. Cheaply made and cant use again because it wont lock in taking forever to preheat and heat the tortilla.

Unbelievable
I love Taco salads I live on quesadillas I live on this stuff I will say I've three things about this and people some people say it's not crunchy I'm going to give you some hints here first off when you're cooking it Let It Go 3 to 4 minutes that's the first thing second thing is spray olive oil on a 10 in flour tortilla both sides wipe it down after you spray don't do it lightly so we'll get it almost a nice of gold and brown you're not going to get it all over ago them Brown the third thing is after you cook the shells let the shells rest on a rack for a while do not eat them right away you will get a crunch to them the machine itself is fantastic I have no complaints on it it wipes down easily and there is no oil residue on it after you wipe it down they're the instructions are right there's a red light that comes on then a faded green light the green light wall is in preparing it will go off you put your tortilla in your green light will come back on it's a faded green light all in all I give this a five-star on everything about this now if you want to get technical and you wanted more crispier do you have after you form the taco shell you turn around and put it in your air fryer and put it on for a few minutes or put it in the oven but it forms it to way it is I'm not kidding you I love it I don't have to go to Taco Bell anymore Update September 13th 2022 This update will probably be only for people who have air fryers I know how to get it crispy now you turn around and cook it in the taco oven not love this Taco oven I eat taco salads all the time well anyways after you cook the the shell let it cool down okay on a rack it's better that way after that turn around and put it in your air fryer on bake at 375 between 370 to 375 for maybe 5 minutes check it periodically then you take it out and there it is nice and crispy like Taco Bell and all other restaurants

Does not work with 10" shells
Tried 4 10" shells in this device, they are too big so a lot of the shell is lost. Will try for 8" shells next time. The green light is hard to see on the one I got, I would prefer if it made a sound when shell is ready but it does what it is designed to do.
