Great Value
These over-the-ear headphones are very lightweight and comfortable to wear. They seemed to be designed to be operated while wearing them because they speak to you as you press the buttons, e.g. Power On/Off, Bluetooth Pairing/Connected/Disconnected, Noise Cancelling, Ambient Sound, etc. Press the power button briefly and it tells you the power level, hold the button a few seconds to turn on/off, and hold it for seven seconds to go into Bluetooth pairing mode. If you have Near Field Communications on your device, my cell phone has this capability, the Bluetooth connects and disconnects when held near the device. In the box are the headphones, and two cables: a headphone cable, and USB-A to USB-C cable. The USB cable is less that 8 inches, not sure why so short, it is difficult to plug into my charging transformer or computer. A 5-volt charging transformer is not included and it is not clear the desired wattage. It did take 7 hours to charge initially. It is listed as having a 35-hour playback time on a charge. The sound quality is very good, I play my music at very high fidelity and these headphones are handling the music exceedingly well. One thing that I wish Sony included is a case for the headphones. There are third-party cases available online. These headphones seem to provide many of the features of Sony’s higher end headphones at a more modest price point. I would certainly recommend them for everyday use. I tested the tree modes; Ambient, Noise Cancelling, and Off. We live on a busy street with much traffic, cars and heavy trucks, which was a perfect setting for the test. Noise Cancelling mode did a great job compensating for the exterior noise, the traffic is loud, and I could barely hear it. As expected in Ambient mode the microphones passed through the street sounds with the music, good if I were walking around and needed to also hear what is going on in the environment and listen to the music. Ambient off turns off the microphones so there is no pass-through sound, so it will depend on the outside volume and your music volume as to how much outside sound you hear. Ambient off also means that Noise Cancelling is off, so if you do not like the compensation that noise cancelling provides, this is your mode. I need to also disclose that I did receive these headphones at a discount in exchange for my honest review. I am pleased with the quality that these headphones provide at a very reasonable price.

Great noise cancelling, sound and fit especially for the prime day price.
Great $100 pair of headphones (Prime deal) but would be willing to pay more. Nice fit, good sound for all genres of music and voice calls, great noise cancellation, and long battery life. The materials are a lower quality than the $250+ crowd but the headband is soft enough and overall don’t feel too cheap. The volume play/pause buttons could use better tactile differentiation—something Sony struggles with as my car stereo has Braille like bumps on the randomness buttons. They’re raised and then there’s a bump in the play pause but I can never quickly pause and sometimes press two buttons at the same time. No I don’t have fat thumbs. The noise cancellation is good enough to have my girlfriend walk up behind me and scare me a couple times now. In addition there’s 2 ambience settings which really should be noise cancellation on w/ ambient noise on, and noise cancellation off. Regardless it doesn’t make a big difference as the fitting of the ear cups helps with a lot of noise cancellation. I would love it to bring in more ambient noise when the setting is on. Lastly I’ve loved switching over to USB-C for devices like this. It charges fast enough that a couple minutes before a call I’ll have enough juice for at least an hour long call. I haven’t heard my voice on the other end but everyone says I sound fine. Maybe I’ll record myself at some point but no complaints from teammates.

Creaking and Ear Pads
Cheap but good ... With a little added work. Large ears here. Original pads on these were so so. Got some thicker ones here on Amazon and they're much more comfortable but then the creaking started. After a bit of messing around I found that PTFE DRY lube did the trick. Dont use a wet lubricant cause it can leak and mess with the electronics. This stuff goes on wet but dries and does a WONDERFUL job. No more creaking. I just held them in hand and moved them around and sprayed where the noise was coming from (which apparently is every joint or movable part on these). Now I'd say they're 5 out of 5 but me having to to do the work takes an easy star off.

Light weight and really good sound.
Received these earlier today and was a bit concerned by other reviews that I've read on here. Like others have said they are very light weight, which is awesome, I could see wearing these for hours with no discomfort. The noise cancelling works really well, any repetitive background noise like a fan, humming fridge, is completely gone when the noise cancelling is turned on. It won't get rid of music or a person talking to you, but between the over ear and the noise cancelling those sounds are definitely less noticable or not even at all when there's sounds coming through the headphones. I also read how people said the sound quality was muffled, but I haven't had any issues as of yet. I listened to some music, watched a bit of Thor Ragnarok, and tried some sound test videos (these can go as low as 20hz) and everything sounded great. To the point that one video that was doing surround sound stuff had someone knock on a door and I thought it was real and took the headphones off only to realize it was coming from the video. I've bought cheaper noise cancelling headphones a few times and those pale in comparison to these. For $100 I don't think you could do better, but you could definitely do worse. All in all I'm pretty happy so far, if that changes I'll keep you posted.

A hearing saver!
Ordered these 5 years ago and they've been a lifesaver. I'm autistic and get easily overwhelmed by noise. I also love listening to music when doing household chores. Without these, the noise of a vacuum or a washing machine makes me want to claw through my own skin, even when I have earbuds on and music playing. Just having these on my ears, though? It makes a world of difference.

This is really worth it! Cost-Benefit is spot on and I have paid more for equal or less
I needed a noise cancelling, decent sounding, quality Bluetooth device that I can hook up to my phone for when I am doing yard work or cleaning out the garage, or misc indoor housework. I have loud kids who are going bananas sometimes if they are home (like these days). This headphone fits comfortable, is snug (the expandable or adjustable band) has good padding for covering your ears, and doesn't flop around as I move up and down and about- it stays steady on my head. The noise cancelling works great - I can see my kids hollering at me or my wife trying to get my attention- but while their lips are moving, I cant hear a thing. Even mowing the lawn, it does the best I have experienced at reducing that sound. The sounds are rich, deep, with a great mid range and treble. Its easy to work with the controls, and its distance from device range is superior. For example, I left my paired phone on the front porch while I went into my back yard and garage, about 30-45 feet distance, and only then when I was furthest away deep in the garage, did I get a spotty connection. Otherwise, I can leave my paired device on the back deck, work in the garage and yard, no problems. Great rich sound, also. Snug and comfortable. Excellent for what I required - tune out the world and get stuff done without disturbing people with my music or even tv audio (I stay up late, and with syncing it to my TV, nobody has to pound on the floors to get me to "Turn it down!". I am an audiophile, and have had decent Bose, JBL's and SOny, and I have to say, at this price (currently $199) you definitely get what you pay for.

Comfy, but Lackluster Sound
I purchased these as a replacement for a pair of Sony MDR-XB9501n that cracked after a few years of pretty much living in them 24/7. Despite previously owning headphones whose primary feature was EXTRA BASS, I'm not a huge fan of bass - so naturally I was looking for something with less of it. Sadly, these are still too skewed toward lower frequencies for my liking. Not only that, but the mid-range is dull at best, and while the higher frequencies have their moments, I was immediately disappointed by how lackluster my overall listening experience was right off the bat. I will say that the quality improved significantly when using the provided cable, which is to be expected - but as that's not going to be my primary mode of listening, it's not enough to convince me to stick with these. Before I even put them on, I was surprised by how cheap the construction seems to be compared to my previous Sony headphones. That being said, these are much lighter and significantly more comfortable. I could easily see myself wearing them for hours at a time without issue. The button controls are pretty standard, and everything is more or less in the same place as it had been on my other pair. To be honest, I'm weird and usually forget that I even have the option of using the controls, so they're more of a bonus than a priority for me. My only problem is the noise cancelling option. I prefer to do much of my listening with noise cancelling switched off, so on these, every time I turn the headset on and off, I have to cycle through two options just to listen without it. A minor gripe, but it makes the apparent lack of app support (or maybe I'm just unlucky?) that much more frustrating. After doing a little searching, I'm still unclear whether this particular model is supported by Sony's Headphones Connect app, as my MDR-9501n model was. If it is, then I had no luck getting my headphones to do what the app's name implies they should: connect. They connected to both my PC and my phone with a few minor issues; I just couldn't get them to show up in the app for some reason. Speaking of noise cancelling, this feature seems markedly less effective than what my previous 'phones had to offer, and there's an obvious hiss that occurs when it's active. I definitely wouldn't be relying on these to perform well in an environment where noise is an issue. I haven't played around with the ambient sound option, so I can't really speak to its effectiveness either way. They're certainly not bad headphones - although, in my opinion, you can get better sound for the price. Ultimately, between the merely mediocre noise cancelling and a sound profile which just isn't for me, I think I'll continue searching for a pair that better suits my needs.

Great, but not flawless
The WHCH710N headset is wonderful. Sure, it's not flawless, but it's still a headset worth buying. At a retail price of $200, I've seen it on sale often for $100. That's a very competitive price for a headset with this feature set. The Pros: Excellent build quality. These are sturdy, well built, headphones. Although the majority of the build is plastic, in a way that's a good thing. Excellent sound quality. These headphones produce amazing sound, with a more flat sound profile. Good noise cancellation. The noise cancellation is good enough, but at certain angles, noise can leak in. Amazing audio controls. The controls are outstanding. With them also being physical buttons, it's far easier to control and handle without an accidental gesture activation. Outstanding Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth connection is simply outstanding. I cant notice any audio delay at all, and it truly feels like a wired headset. The Cons: The leatherette ear cushions. They arent that comfortable, but that depends on the ear size of the user. If you have small ears, they will be fine. But if you have larger ears, you may have discomfort. I personally use (and recommend) the SteelSeries Arctis ear cushions as a replacement. ($14.99+fees USD) Clamping. Depending on the users head size, it can feel a bit clampy. It doesn't hurt, but you can notice it feels snug if you have a bigger head. Ear discomfort. This headset has a strange black cube that is under the ear cushion, in the middle. I do not know what it is for, but again, depending on the users ear size - this black cube may dig into your ear, causing discomfort.

This is the sound Sony was built on
I'm old enough to have had a Walk-Man, a Disc-Man, and all other manner of popular Sony products over the years. But in the 90s, I felt Sony was just banking on their brand rather than the quality of their products. Then came the Bluetooth boom in the 2000s, and Sony found themselves behind the times, with deep competition. So they threw themselves back into R&D, and started producing some premium quality audio tech once again. The WH-CH710N is one such product. The sound quality is pristine, with a level of clarity that deserves the Sony badge. With their Bass Boost technology, the bass response is amazing without being overpowering -- truly, this is Sony's signature. Furthermore, the active noise cancelling and ambient sound modes are quite good, even during calls. And the microphone pickup does a decent job of focusing on my voice, and background noise is kept to a minimum. Overall, the Sony WH-CH710N is a quality product with an approachable price tag. My only real gripe is that there is no travel bag/case included, while some other comparable products do. Still, if you're in the market for on-ear headphones, this is definitely worth considering. Happy shopping!

Product is fantastic but beware from which seller you are buying
The product is great and meets all the specifications mentioned but I bought it from blumaple seller which claimed the MRP of the product is INR 34,999 but the true MRP is INR 14,990. I called and confirmed with Sony customer care. Blumaple claimed the discounted price to be INR 15,499 and unfortunately I bought it at this price. Later, when I told my friend that this is a good product he looked into it and told me that he sees a different price and MRP which forced me to dig into this and I found out the truth. Again, product is fantastic! Just be careful and buy from authorised sellers only.

As good as expected from a more expensive version
They do the few jobs they are intended to do, very well indeed. I am glad I did not spend more on expensive alternatives as these do the job nicely.
