It works…. Be prepared
Today I discovered two things: that no-thumb-sucking nail polish from Amazon works… and my kid is incredibly stubborn. I painted her nails purple and added a top coat of the no sucking stuff. My bright idea was to not tell her that the paint was “magic” so she would let me keep painting her nails as needed. Sounds brilliant right? 🙃 Ten minutes later—thumb in mouth. She said yuck… then just started drooling like her body was trying to process the betrayal. So she got her cup and drank some water, took a big drink… and immediately put her thumb back in. Instant regret. Pukes all over her bedroom floor. So she runs over to tell me she puked, and I’m like, “RUN to the bathroom!” She turns to run… puts her thumb back in again… and yeah, did not make it in time. All over the bathroom floor and a brand new toilet paper roll. Then, in a moment that will live in my memory forever, she decides the best way to recover emotionally is… Thumb. Back. In. Mouth. 😧 And again… immediate consequences all over the floor again (how much water does this kid have in her! *when did she have Cheetos?!” By the end of this entire saga, she’s ready for a nap, I’m deciding if I should laugh or cry because I feel like a terrible parent, and the nail polish has officially established dominance. Moral of the story:That nail polish absolutely works. My kid just needed to confirm it… multiple times. Also keeping it a secret that the nail polish is special is a bad idea 🫣 Send help, preferably someone with a mop and hard alcohol

It works for thumb sucking!
I don’t write a lot of reviews, but felt I had to for this. My three-year-old daughter was sucking her thumb constantly and pushing out her teeth. We tried another bad tasting nail polish and a dentist recommended $70 chewing stick - both she ignored. This tastes very bitter so she couldn’t ignore it. The first day she was spitting all over the car and house to get the taste out but by the second day she was much more careful about not slipping her thumb into her mouth. Nights and naps were tricky for maybe a day or two. Within a week, she’s not sucking her thumb at all and we aren’t even using it anymore (but we’ll keep it nearby in case she reverts back). This won’t help for nail biting but to avoid her having to taste it when she’s eating, I put it on her thumb knuckles vs her nails. I felt bad about the taste so I put it on too, and apparently I sometimes bite my nails because I got a few tastes. It’s bad and stays on your tongue for a few minutes, but it’s not unbearable. Highly recommend if you need to kick a bad habit quick.

Horrible taste, hopefully this works
But of a backstory, I bought this for my husband as well as my almost 4 year old. My husband has had a nail biting issue since he was in grade school. His nails are nonexistent and his fingers are nubs at this point. He bites his nails 24/7 and at this point doesn’t even realize he’s biting them. Our 4 year old has recently started the bad habit as well in the last year. I decided to put this on my son‘s nails at 9 AM. I am a firm believer that if I’m giving my child something like this I should also be trying it. Now I do not have a nail biting issue, but I put a dab on my hand and licked it. Holy crap this stuff taste horrendous. I instantly begin chugging water, spitting in the sink. I saw the previous reviews where they said that it made their child puke and I thought it was an exaggeration. But there I was in the sink, thinking I was gonna be sick. It is now 10 AM. The wave of bitterness and sickness passed within 2 minutes, within five minutes, I had gotten the taste out of my mouth because I was chugging water. Now an hour later I still feel it linger. I have a slight headache from the taste and my stomach hurts. It tastes almost like battery acid. It is very bitter and an absolute awful taste. My four-year-old now has it on his hands (I put it on his fingers and then I tasted it) He has yet to put his hand in his mouth. When my husband comes home will be the real test. Because I’m curious to see how long it lasts and lingers on your fingers. So as of right now, I give it five out of five stars. I will update this at the end of the week and see if we have kicked the nailbiting habit out of our house. But please be aware it is truly a horrible taste. So parents, please be aware your kid may puke.

Stopped Toddler Thumb Sucking in 2 Days!
This product is insanely effective to stop thumb sucking!! I’m in (pleasant) shock. Background - our daughter has sucked her thumb basically since birth. I actually didn’t care to have her stop yet except that the thumb sucking turned into a simultaneous hair pulling (her own hair) issue around 2.5 years old which got really bad. I bought every little hair toy, fidget item, literally everything out there to try to stop the hair pulling but nothing even touched it. I learned it is a self soothing behavior exclusively tied to thumb sucking so … our finnnnnal last ditch effort was to try to stop the thumb sucking, something I wasn’t too hopeful would work based on all I had read about how hard it is to stop with really young kids. TWO DAYS. 2. That’s it. I put this stuff on her thumbs and she completely stopped thumb sucking (and hair pulling) in TWO days. I am mind blown. Day 1/ the first time she tried it her reaction was extreme. Tears, she started drooling - it was intense. We made up a story about how when you get too old to suck your thumb it just starts to taste bad. After 2 days of applying at around 3x per day her entire oral habit seems to have stopped. She’s not even reaching up to suck her thumb or trying while falling asleep or anything!! We are now 3 weeks in and she doesn’t seem to miss it or be inclined to suck her thumb at all, even without needing the product anymore. 10/10 recommend I also tasted it. It’s awful, almost causes an oral reaction it’s so bad, but it freaking worked!!

Doesn't Work! Don't buy
The product wasnt strong enough of a taste to keep my toddler from biting his nails. He still would do it, at age of 18 months. Also the container the product is in is a good idea only if it worked properly. When u twist it sometimes the liquid would come out very little and other times it would drip out. The idea of it is great but it doesnt work right and not forsure if ill be able to even use all of it up. Dont buy it, not worth the purchase!

Too easy to dry up
It’s good stuff and my daughter definitely doesn’t suck her thumb while it’s on there. It’s nice that you can wash it off so you don’t have to worry about traumatizing them during meal times. However, you have to make sure the lid is on tight or it all evaporates. I had one pen that my daughter got a hold of and popped the lid off. It was all gone the next time we went to use it. I ordered a double pack as a replacement so I could have one at home and one at daycare but one of the pens arrived empty, pretty disappointing after what you pay for it. Didn’t feel like going through the hassle of returning it through Amazon so I just have one really expensive pen. If the second order hadn’t come with a dud I probably would have given it a 5

Works and does taste nasty
This is really bitter/yucky taste. Super easy to use, you twist the bottom and the product come up into the bristles. It’s been working so far, my child said it’s “spicy”. I just keep reminding him to stop sucking his thumbs.

What’s the most important thing to know
It did not work that good

Worked fairly good.
Liquid dried off fast. We used it for our child’s thumb sucking and it worked the 2nd day of 3x swabs. It tasted awful but it mentally reminded him that it’ll taste awful. We had to resort to this method as he was starting kindergarten soon. Could’ve have started earlier but it’s serves as good option.

All dried up?
Instruction says to twist, apply and let it dry. When applying, there’s no liquid or any sort and it’s not bitter. It’s dry. There’s no best before or manufacturing date written on the box or pen either.
