Given the limits, this is a good-quality release
First, this is a review not of the film but the 4K format itself. Psycho is a classic, one of Hitchcock’s best, and unquestionably a seminal horror film. If you haven’t seen it already, what are you waiting for? As someone who’s new to the 4K format, what I’m noticing is this: There are limits to the format, as far as the benefits versus, say, blu-ray, and these limits seem proportional to the age of the print. For older stuff—and by that, I mean films created in the 1970s or earlier—you’re going to see some flaws, chiefly a lot of film grain, particular in solid, dark areas. Don’t get me wrong, however; I’m not suggesting companies use DNR (digital noise reduction) to reduce the grain. No, DNR is horrendous. But what folks should know is that 4K, while it will improve the picture and the sharpness, can underscore the flaws in older source material. Psycho 4K is probably the best format available for this classic. But if you’re looking for picture quality along the lines of the very best 4K movies (The Shining and Pulp Fiction come to mind), you’re probably going to be very, very disappointed.

A film that changed cinema forever. Superb 4K UHD restoration by the team at Universal Studios. Picture and sound are excellent and there is an informative range of supplements provided to add to your knowledge and enjoyment of this stone cold classic.

Quelle joie de me procurer, enfin, un support physique contenant la version intégrale de Psychose ! Tout y est : les bonus déjà présents sur l'édition du 50ème anniversaire et surtout les deux montages du film (version censurée disponible sur tous supports jusqu'à maintenant et non-censurée avec une différence de 16 secondes...). Les fans de ce film vont sans doute espérer une réédition française à l'unité (je ne tiens pas compte du steelbook 4K) pour se le procurer.

I bought this since no one I know had seen the original movie the tv series is based on. The extra part of the shower scene without the music is worth it. I was surprised that the score tones down the horror of it.
