Atoma places the infinite reaches of the universe at the feet of their fans, presenting an atmospheric apocalyptic epos. In order to relate their tale, the Swedish trio create a synthesized sound sphere deeply anchored on a driving rock foundation. The songs evoke ethereal and electronic details that provide the complexity necessary to transform this release into a spectacular journey of discovery. Atoma's Skylight is a post rock/metal album that will make an adventurous astronaut of anyone who listens. Review: Truly heartfelt and atmospheric! - I was a fan of their previous band "slumber" before they changed their name and style with atoma. I have to say i like the change way more than their previous outing. Best way to describe this cd is that it is open minded not sticking with one style or formula. The electronic samples to the female vocals adding a very lush soundscape. If you don't believe me go and listen to the album sampler on youtube. Review: A Badass Album - This is a badass album from start to finish. I'd highly recommend you check this album out. You will not be disappointed. Buy it, listen to it, and enjoy it.

Immersive, Evocative Post-Metal That Captures Your Imagination
I discovered Atoma's debut album "Skylight" thanks to promotional emails I received from Napalm Records this summer. And what a gorgeous discovery it was. Three members of the Swedish doom metal band Slumber formed Atoma with the intention of creating expressive ambient rock/metal as a form of escapism. What's unique about "Skylight" is it's a mostly instrumental album. The vocals (male and female, and death growls on one track) act as secondary characters, while the music takes the lead role. And, Atoma's marriage of lush, synthesized atmospheres and dynamic prog rock/metal really does transport you to another state of mind. When listening to my favorite songs on "Skylight," I literally feel waves of emotions from the music drawing me in, with each song communicating something different. What an inspiring experience - and I love it when music inspires the writer in me. My only critique for the album is that its concept (astronauts searching for a new planet to live on once Earth becomes inhospitable) does get lost in the music's vastness. Otherwise, I highly recommend "Skylight" to anyone who likes progressive or ambient rock/metal that's mature and evocative.
