ELECOM EX-G Trackball Mouse, Thumb, Wired

UPDATE 3 years later, still using this daily at work. Best mouse I’ve ever had! You get used to the rollerball within a few weeks. Plug and play, I’ve never had any issues with it! OLD: Got this as I have some issues with my wrist and I'm an office worker. I find it has changed alot for me. Not as much pain. It takes a few hours to get used to the rollerball but worthwhile. I don't think I'd go back to a normal mouse. It did stick a little at first, but doesn't now as I've wore it in a bit. I've not used this for gaming, I've used this to help me reduce pain and it has.

2 years in and i've used it daily on my desk where I work from home && play games after work. The only complaint is that the scroll seems to be breaking, or something is off with it. Sometimes i'll scroll down and it scrolls up ???? But apart from that, the size is great for my hand and it feels really comfortable due to the ergonomics of the design. I'd probably get a new one when the scroll drives me too mad.

I've been using trackballs since the mid 1990s, and this is by far the best quality I've used so far. With other trackballs I've had issues with poor sensors or the ball not sliding properly in its cradle. No problems like that here. Also, the two main buttons are a delight - easy enough to press, but not so easy that a twitch will trigger them - yes, I'm getting old and I twitch. Cleaning the lenses is also easier than I've seen from other manufacturers. The addition of a switch to easily change the speed of the mouse without having to dive into operating system configuration panels is a boon. I would highly recommend this device.

Returning it as its ball stopped rolling smoothly in just a couple of minutes of use. I guess as soon as my hand has increased the temperature of the trackball, the cavity it rolls into got somehow deformed and the ball started grinding against the housing instead of the 3 mini artificial rubies that normally keep it suspended with minimal friction. In addition to that, Elecom Mouse Assistant software ver.6.3 (latest release) is not recognizing it and this trackball model number is not in the supported models list. I tried with the very old version 5 which recognized the trackball but the interface was only in Japanese!

I've been using trackballs for 30+ years; this appears to be a clone of the Logitech one (that go for $$$ second hand on ebay) - good for Elecom doing that. Easy to clean, reliable, just what you expect! Never sure about the elecom software, but you don't have to use it.

There are many good things to say about this trackball but they are cancelled out to me by the frustrating way during normal use the left button simply sticks intermittently causing Windows to think I am trying to drag and drop things. Very frustrating to say the least and I cannot recommend it as a result. The build quality otherwise is excellent and is compariable to early Microsoft track balls that were virtually indestructible in terms of build.

Just Perfect! I have been using it for some time now and cannot imagine not having it available. It is very responsive yet easily allows scroling across three monitors and is very comfortable to use for long periods.

Got this as I was getting RSI from using a standard mouse. It has certainly stopped that! The trackball it's is quite light, so you need a gentle touch to be accurate with it. It would be nice if there was a little more heft to the trackball itself so there was a little more resistance. The back and forward buttons are a nice addition if you do a lot of browsing, and the ability to use the scroll wheel to go sideways across the page as well as up and down is good too. All in all a decent mouse for productivity, haven't used it for gaming so can't really comment on that.

Este producto me parece esepcional por 3 aspectos: 1.- Es alambrico por lo tanto nunca requiere de cambios de pila o recarga de las mismas. 2.-Es fácil de dar mantenimiento, ya que la esfera se puedes desprender para da limpieza a los sensores y la esfera. 3.- Es súper ergonómico, ya que no castigas el túnel carpiano. Las únicas desventajas que encontré son las siguientes: 1.- Al principio es difícil acostumbrarse a su uso, pero una vez adaptado al uso es súper fácil de usar. 2.- el utilizar productos como cremas humectantes o residuos de maquillaje o grasa en las manos hace que los sensores se vuelva algo imprecisos es notorio cuando esto pasa ya que dificulta mucho realizar acciones precisas, la solución es la limpieza de los sensores y esfera con un poco alcohol y un cotonete.

I love this mouse. I had previously purchased the Grey trackball version and used it for years at home. Moved to a more computer oriented job and tried a track ball work provided that was too large. I have very small hands, and this elecom mouse is a perfect fit. Medium hands could also use this fine, but large hands may need a larger mouse. The shape is so natural it never causes any aches for me unless I am gaming intensely and then I got a minor amount of thumb fatigue. I did have to return the first one of this that I got bc the ball was sticking and not roasting, even after lubing the bearings with silicone spray, but this one works great out of the box and feels like a dream glide, effortless. They also shipped the replacement to me immediately before I dropped off the first one, which I really appreciated. If it doesn't work right away, don't give up on the style! A good one is the BEST trackball mouse I have ever had.

It's not easy going from a mouse to a trackball, but this ended up easier than I expected. Still getting used to the new buttons, but they work well and are pretty intuitive. I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment on that. I can say that there are drivers available for Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS), and both that and Windows 10 recognized it immediately, and the buttons map perfectly.
